what upset me about this issue was that some residents claimed that they werent being racist at all but their reasons for protesting against the school were entirely racist.

Ok, I'm not being racist towards Islamics, but what really pisses me off, is when something we say is misinterpretted and then we are labelled as racists. However, say if an foreigner said something racist about us, nothing happens and we just have to let it go.
I have nothing against people wanting to come live in Australia, but they have to respect that we have the right to be treated with equal dignity and respect.
