One thing I will say is that I refuse to let anyone else define me based on my appearance, taste in music, etc.

I wear heels, and Chucks the next day. I like rap and girly clothes, and I like post hardcore music and band shirts. Some of my friends wear Hollister and some of them wear Hot Topic. I wear neither. They, as well as I, don't care. I've never felt pressured to wear something they wouldn't or be friends with the wrong people for the image.

I don't understand why the hell it's so bad to like heels and other feminine clothes. Why do people think that's shallow?

Do the preps really make fun of other people? Everywhere I've lived, they haven't. The only time I've ever been made fun of was before I started straightening my hair. I have a fro.

I'd just say to not care about what other people think and wear what you like. If you want to wear Chucks, wear them.

You know what? I'm calling bullshit. If there's one thing I learned from the preps at high school, it's not that they go without bullying as well. They are who they are, and they get picked on as well.

Stop making shit up and get on with your real life, kid.

Why should you care what your friends think of you?
If they truly love you then they'll be there for you no matter how you dress or who you listen to.
Do whatever the hell you want and don't worry what people think, because in the end it's all about what makes you happy and what you think about yourself.

Honestly, I don't see why everyone has to fight with each other over something as dumb as labels.

"preps'' and ''emo's'' can get along.
Just because there are steryotypes, doesn't mean anything.
    Be yourself.
If yourself is closer to "prep," then thats chill.

Ditch the barbies, blast All Time Low and throw on those Chuck Taylor's.

Sweetie, if this is the worst of your problems, then you need a reality check. The world is not fair. No matter who you try to be, they will always judge you.

If they are not your friends, why pretend? To be popular? To fit in? To not be bullied? Stupid reasons if you ask me. Everyone wants acceptance, but you are looking for it in the wrong place. Find people that like what you like, and make friends there. If you like this boy, you should not care what others think. It is what matters to you.

wish the world wasn’t so twisted around what you look like. I don’t know if I’ll ever be allowed to be me…

The world is not completely twisted around what you look like. Only from your perspective. Sure, looks get you popular points, but once you graduate, what does their opinion matter? People make this big deal out of popularity at school. But you spend all this time, making yourself miserable. Grooming yourself to fit their idea of perfection, and for what? A small taste of non existent fame?

I am not trying to make you feel low with this, but this is shallow. If you had true friends that were giving you a problem, okay. I might feel some sympathy there. But not for this. Never for this.

Remember. The only person you can be is yourself. No one can ask you any different. After all, who else is there left to be?

Honey, you're the one who's not allowing yourself.
Stop all the self-pity and melodramatics.
    It never gets you anywhere.
You say you're surrounded with fake friends?
Then why do you still hang out with them?
If that was me I'd drop them like a pile of crap.
Seriously, get over yourself and start living.
Life isn't about the "battles" of the preppy kids and the emo kids.
Go out there and be what you want to be.
Be a freakin' alien if you effing want to be!

Honey, I wish I had your problems...

First of all, ditch the plastic Barbie dolls and high heels. Throw on some decent shoes and get new friends. If you get bullied, fight back. Don't let people tell you who you are and let them walk all over you. There are a lot of stupid bastards out there that need a good kick in the ass sometimes. Don't be afraid to be the one to supply the foot.

...This struck me as really, really shallow and childish.
Was I supposed to find meaning in it? :(

I have no problem with labels, by any means...but it's great to see how stereotypically judgemental people are, when trying to say we have to accept people for who they are.
    Still, more shallow than anything.

    Um.
Who cares what anyone else think?
Honestly, at my school, everyone gets along. I would be labeled as 'emo' or 'scene' and my best friend is a hick. Maybe it's different at your school. But since you've stated that the 'preps' aren't your real friends, ditch them and find better, real friends.
Do what you want, don't care about anyone else. It's your life, not theirs.
