I was just guessing by what was on your profile, and what I know of the stereotype. I know, I know; I don't know you, that's why I said that I was guessing. You don't have to tell me how far you are from 'Emo'.
No, I wasn't replying to you Emily SIKES anyway. But MCR arent emo, if they say that they aren't then they aren't because only you yourself can decide weather or not you want to be associated with something
Just because it's a generalized stereotype doesn't mean people will never fall into it. And people don't have to /want/ to fit a stereotype to do so, anyway.
Don't you think MCR has to play a part in people's opinions; not just the occasional fan?
What you are saying does not make any sense to me. Do you think emo is a way of dressing? Do you hate it when people call MCR emo because they say they aren't?
Nothing about me sreams 'Emo' I'm a fairly 'regular' kid. I wear bright colours more then i wear black. and I dont broadcast my depression all over the school. They call me emo because as soon as people found out i liked MCR they automatically dumped me into the emo category
The Guitar Man is right, listening to a band can't make you something... Everything about them just screams EMO. It honestly does not bother me if people call them that, but I guess that lowers my real fan status.. right?
Well you're the first fan i've met that thinks the band being called emo is ok. And that is emo, because its a steryotype that noone fits into unless they want to be associated with it. Because its can't even be propperly defined. thats why kids can just go around dressing in black and saying 'I'm an emo' then MCR get shoved in there with these kids
Augh. I'm sure it has something to do with your personality, because I highly doubt that a band can automatically label you. Much less that everybody knows you like them. Maybe it's that you broadcast depression? Just guessing; seriously. Don't say stuff about me not lnowing you and such.
'Emo' doesn't mean emotional. If that was the case, then everything would be emo; but, it's not. The lyrics and their style do play into the tigenre people precieve them as. Furthermore; Not many people who don't much like the band will go out of their way to learn about the people; they judge by the music. Which is what a band is about. They'll also judge by the image, too. Consider that not every person, nor fan, is going to go out of their way to figure out what singers act like outside of the limelight.
What makes you think I am not a fan? I actually am. I have even seen them live. I have seen interviews where Gerard says 'they are not emo, just a rock band". Don't say they are not emo if you don't know what it is. You think it is a way of dressing, and lyrics.
I suppose it is, because I can't seem to convince you that MCR are not emo. You're clearly not a fan, so you wouldn't really know if they were or weren't
I'm a big MCR fan. And look at my pictures, I don't wear that much black, and i don't cop their style. Yet i still get called an emo for no reason except the fact htat I like MCR.
Like i said, their music may be about emotions. But that dosn't make it emo. I've never heard anyone call Eminem an emo and he writes about his emotions
They seem pretty whiney, in their own way And I see them mostly in black... Uh...and...y'know, the fans don't /have/ to imitate the band's style. They're individuals, right?
Meh. Not like any of us are going to convince the other of anything. =P
Does that not make him one?
Because I'm sure just about everyone in America will say otherwise.
Emily: So do I. They're pretty close-minded about some things. :/
