Missing what you can't do with someone is all a part of missing somebody so please don't think you're strange to feel like that.
Science is an excellent thing and it's great that you're interested in it but, and I suppose religion is the same here, it can't explain everything. I don't think I'd like to live in a world where human intelligence managed to crack every secret ever known to the natural or supernatural universe.
Not sure what I think about mind reading. If it was real it would be exceptionally rare, like maybe only a handful of people every hundred years. Your Mum must believe in you, if you'll pardon the cliche, to think you can do all that stuff. Perhaps she needs that supernatural stuff for some reason, I don't know haha my detection skills are low today ...
