'This flu will not kill off the entire world.' I can only hope it'll get the annoying people.

Dreaming Of Dreams, you're very right, I don't know whether or not this will kill off the whole world, but I try to be optimistic. And yeah, it is nature's way of "cleaning house" because we are overpopulated, but if it was as serious as a lot of people make it out to be, wouldn't we all be dead by now? Or wouldn't we have died from the bird flu or SARS? But I do agree with you, it does seem like the right time for another "imminent pandemic." But like I said, I like being optimistic and thinking that this will all blow over eventually, just like the bird flu.

And Jeremy McKinnon, snaps to you for liking P.Roach! I'm also jealous of you. :XD

I love how so many people are getting ill and then immediately diagnosing themselves by saying; "I have swine flu!" Hey, you may just have seasonal flu. Just sayin'.

Oh, and Papa Roach? Hell yes. Saw them the other week - absolutely fantastic.

in america, the common flu killed about 30,000 people, either last year or the year before.

no one freaked out about that.

swine flu so far. one death. an immigrant baby who already had the flu before coming to america.

people are just being overcautious. there's currently no vaccine for it so people are tweaking a little.

A few schools in my town were closed down this week, which is dumb because now the district is adding an extra day to the school year, even for the schools that are remaining open.

I think that with a lot of people being aware of it now they know to go to the doctor if they start to have the symtoms, meaning the flu will be diagnosed quickly and recovery can be made. I know there's been a death in the US, and as sad as it is, the death was a young child. Most likely, had that child gotten the regular flu their fate would have been the same as their body hasn't been as exposed to illness, meaning they're less capable of fighting it.

We also don't really know about the statics of the deaths in mexico (age, etc) but I'd hazard a guess to say that they are either young children, or elderly. They're the ones most as risk of the regular flu anyway.

But I agree, there's good reason to be cautious, but no reason to panic. The only reason it's spready so quickly through the world is because of people travelling. Mexico is a popular place to go for holidays and for church mission trips, plus it's just been easter break as well, a peak travel time.

But seriously, the masks do nothing. Don't bother with a mask.

With all due respect, you don't know it won't kill off the whole world.=) It seems about the time for another deadly epidemic of sorts...we're vastly overpopulated. I think epidemics, plagues, etc ae nature's way of cleaning house, so to speak.
