You are NOT an idiot. The heart wants what the heart wants and sometimes we just can't control that. At least the person you love the most loves you back, be happy for that.

Why isn't she mad at him?
I mean, she does sort of have a reason to be mad at you (because you were her friend), but think about it from another way. He and she are dating. Another person comes on to him and something happens. Then the breakup, and his moving on to the new girl. She should be mad at him, at least to some degree, because it was him who made the decision to have the side-fling.

Anyway, it's like CoolKids says. Explain what happened and give her time to get over it.

Sounds to me like the normal teenage crisis. Believe me, same has happened here. The guy stole my boyfriend away from me, though, so I can see it from the girl's point of view.

You may have not gotten together in the right way, but you care about each other and that should be all that matters. Talk to her and if she cant get over the fact that she doesn't have a boyfriend anymore shes probably not all that great of a person anyway. I mean she has a right to be a little ticked but she also needs to sit down and listen to you guys explain what happened. More than anything, just give her time and most likely she will come around.
