I agree about some of this. I know I'm more than guilty of doing what you're saying, but I do agree on one point: Believing differently than the masses is not open-mindedness. Open-mindedness doesn't mean accepting a minority opinion and looking down on every other thought, or the people who have them. I think teenagers, people in general these days, mistake that.
Like I said, I know I'm very guilty of being the type of person you're ranting about. In my own defense, despite this not being a personal attack at all; I try to limit the people I hold this kind of double-standard for. A lot of people on Mibba, with their egos, don't have any regard for others, and seem delusional about their own self-image, and they state that they don't care what others think of them. If they say they don't care, and obviously don't care how they treat others, I usually have no problem treating them badly. :/
