Ok I think you may need to read up on these subcultures. Goth is in NO way under emo. These subcultures are always about the music. Goth rock are bands such as Bauhaus, Fields of the Nephilim or Siouxsie & the Banshees. Industrial & darkwave are influenced by goth rock. As for the fashion theres different styles like victorian or rave. Emo is short for Emotive Hardcore & are bands like Rites of Spring, Sunny Day Real Estate or Minor Threat.

Well thats my opinion ^_^ the word emo is used too lightly these days, people throw it around like its yesterday's newspaper. All these subcultures have lost the feeling of what it was originally about & teens just seem to label themselves which is ridiculous to be honest. I say just be yourself. If you like the style I say go for it & wear it. Its just a style & you don't have to be 'scene','emo','punk' or 'goth' to wear it. Thats just stupid how people say that, thats like saying if you read bout the history of witchcraft then you can't do that unless you want to be wiccan.

    HOKAY...
Goth is by NOO means under emo, it's not close. Totally different state of mind, clothing, lifestyle. All in all different subcultures and should never be grouped together.
Emo is from the '80's. It is music and the people ect. It is a lifestyle really.
I would suggest looking into it. The more you understand these things you get an educated opinion and not a "Well goth and emo and punk are lyk the same thing" sorta thing.
Sorry, I really hate when people don't understand those things.
I know what you mean by feeling jealous and I respect that you had the guts to say that on the internet. If you want to dress a certain way GO FOR IT!

    Dude.
We were talking about the difference between goth and emo in my US History class yesterday.
    XD
Somehow scene, techno, prep, and skater got thrown in too.

I just think emo is a style of music. Honestly, when people try to be 'emo' I laugh inside.

Same with scene, only with scene I more vomit than laugh. [/shudder]

Emo is a music genre. Emoting is an action. Emoticon is...well... :) < That's an emoticon.

I just tried to go through and define words with "emo" in them. XD

Goth isn't emo, in my opinion. But thats just my opinion.
This is also my opinion: ^_^
When I think of emo I think 'Emotional' When I think of Emo music, I think of something thats really deep, that touches you emotionally. Its a style, like Scene and such.

But of course, Emo has become a sterotype for people who cut themselves. People who are depressed. Thats all I hear anyway. Thus, I suppose its also a state of mind. Even though thats a piece of...never mind.

Its a fashion thing lately. But I do wish people would stop all the cutting....O_O

Ah well, What do I know? Don't kill me!
