Use a needle. And just lightly and carefully, press it around where the splinter and break away the skin slowly so it leaves an opening. Then...either pick it out or use tweezers - it doesn't matter which because you should put antiseptic on it afterward.

My boyfriend says running a razor blade over the skin will snag it, but that never made any sense to me. I say soak it in warm water and squeeze.

I've always used a needle to get down to it, (if it's down in my skin) then use tweezers to pull it out. Then I put antibiotic on it. I have a thing where when I see blood or I'm in pain or the like, I faint, so it makes the process harder. But for people without vagal syndrome, I imagine it's not too bad really.

Well if the splinter is really stuck, I sort of just use the needle to scrape it out. It sounds horrible but I promise it really isn't that bad.

I've never heard of the baking soda thing. :/

I usually use tweezers to pull a splinter out, or if that doesn't work I use a thin needle. Tweezers seem like the easiest solution, it's quick and fairly painless.

I turn on a really bright light and try to locate where the splinter went in. Then I squeeze the area like I'd squeeze a pimple and get the splinter to come up a bit above the surface of my skin, then take a tweezer and pull it out. It can be frustrating at times, but it eventually works.
