If you're going to wash your hair in vinegar, do it before a holiday or at least on a Friday night xP othewise you'll walk around smelling like an egg-salad sandwich. I used lemon juice...it gives nice highlights ^^

A clarifying shampoo would work just as well, without the icky smell. Vinegar basically strips the hair of dulling residue from hair products you use, which is why your hair would be shinier. Clarifying shampoo would do the same. Sometimes the vinegar makes your hair dry.

Lemon juice works wonders for me, but it has a highlighting effect as well.
However it doesn't smell as bad as vinegar and it has kind of the same result.

Just wash your hair in colder water, not hot, cause if it to hot it open the hair cuticles. The colder the water the less the cuticles open so it's not opening up like a christmas tree.

The hotter water and chemicals you put on your hair the more open your hair cuticles are and the dryer and crappier you hair gets.

    Heat expands, cold contracts.

Also drug store shampoo/conditioner is quite bad. It puts a layer of wax on your hair and scalp so it get's up coating your hair and then can also lead to hair loss. I've scrapped it off peoples hair before.
Salon shampoo only! and please don't buy it from the drug store, it's not actually whats in the bottles. And it's not a big savings either. I've done some price checking.

I'm actually a hair stylist so that's I know a few things that others don't

I've tried it once and guess what? I forgot to shampoo my hair after wards. And then my hair stayed it's vinegar smell for almost a week. Though, it really did became shiny since according to my sources, vinegar uhmm... washes away the like fragments or the remained shampoo residues on the hair so that's why it becomes shiny. But. it's not to be used everyday or it'll really do great damage on your hair for it is acidic. Hope it helped.
