Burger King most likely used Twilight just to attract attention and as for people thinking they are werewolves/vampires that has been around since way before Twilight. It's kind of like the Jonas Brothers fan craze, I'd say because you get rather scary obsessive fangirls who actually think that they are related to the Jonas Brothers. It's not just teenagers who like Twilight, there are adults now too.

I saw a copy of Wuthering Heights at the bookstore a while back, and I looked at the cover and saw a little blurb that said "Edward and Bella's favorite book."

Shiznit I don't really think that's 'overboard' I think that's a publishing company trying to make a quick buck.

    It has gone overboard.
One of my guy friends who liked this one girl a lot finally got the nerve to ask her out last year. Well, here's her reply: 'I'm sorry, I can't. I'm waiting for Edward Cullen to come along.'

So, she said no to a great guy because he wasn't Edward Cullen. Really?

It has gone way, way overboard. But it's been overboard for quite a while, as far as I've seen. I saw a copy of Wuthering Heights at the bookstore a while back, and I looked at the cover and saw a little blurb that said "Edward and Bella's favorite book."

I mean, seriously? And yes that Burger King commercial frightens and annoys me.

I feel really bad comparing it to Harry Potter but has anyone noticed how fans get with those books as well??

I know, I know! The Harry Potter series are actually well written and have a decent plot that doesn't go on and on about how pretty and sparkly everything is and people are probably going to reply to this saying "OH gosh, not another person comparing those books!" but I know people who seriously believe they're wizards as well...

I like Twilight for a light read, it's not anything great but I do agree there are a few crazy fans out there...

This girl from my school said she was a vampire; she got on the chair and started hissing at people.. it was scary. She also claimed to have a cousin who was a werewolf and another who was a vampire and how they don't like each other because of the whole werewolf vs vampire in Twilight. It's so.. weird. Twilight brings a horrible effect on people, in my opinion.

Twilight isn't the first thing to come along that people are obessed with like this. People just notice it more because unlike other cult fandoms Twilight is featured very prominently in the media.

That's what I think. I'm someone who is obsessive with everything and have had my part in other fandoms and I can tell you stuff like this happens within other fandoms as well. Yes it's unhealthy but what can you do? Unless you know these people personally there's not much honestly.

neonlights.: D&D most certainly has not! I would be very alarmed if it did....besides, enough people hate 4.0. Why make it worse.
What worries me is...to order those things, you know most of them are over 18.\

    v. Uhh...don't vampires sorta go against the laws of nature, in general?

ChangeI wish it would die so badly.
Vampires should be scary and bloodsucking monsters, not sparkling and sweet.
It just goes against all laws of nature.

The fad will die out, believe me. They always do. That's why no one wears parachute pants and suspenders. We just don't. Fads die, and please--let this one die as well.

    v. You know if that's their pleasure then fine, but to those who buy it because they want to have sex with Edward Cullen, I just find it pretty darn disturbing.

I mean, I don't even think that Dungeons and Dragons went that far with their games.

    v. In all fairness, maybe the idea of a sparkling manhood that's deathly cold is a turn-on to some people...?
Though that sounds more like Necrophilia.

Which...is a turn-on for a few, but it still stands as creepy.

    v. I've totally seen that "sex toy" in a magazine before.

    Creepy.

    Really, really, weird.

You have got to be a *hard core fangirl* (or fan mom) to get that.
