How do I tell my mom I have a boyfriend? D: (Yes, another annoying boy-drama-ish journal. I'm sorry.) - Comments

Haha I was worried about telling my parents, too.
Just cuz I don't like talking about relationship stuff with them.
But then I was just like, "Oh yea, and he sorta asked me out yesterday. So I said yea." like it was nothing.
And she was just like, "Yea, I kind of figured he would ask." Hah.

Honestly, I never told my parents straight out that my boyfriend is my boyfriend. I was just like, 'Well there's this guy that I really like and was wondering if he could come over sometime.'

That's when my dad drilled me with questions about him, ha. It's been a year now and I've never came right out and said, 'He's my boyfriend.' I'm sure they've figured it out by now (:

I was so freaking worried when I had to do this xD
I waited until I was with my dad. Then I texted him and was like "so... me and _ are kind of going out."
And instead of flipping out like I expected, she said "kind of figured." xD
    Don't worry.
Most of the time, all the crap that builds up in your head is just you worrying too much, and once that moment actually happens... it's nothing :)

Oh damn, sounds just like my situation. Except, you know, my mom would disown me if she knew i had been going out with *gasp* a BOY for the last 7 months. God forbid i get hurt from her ever-sheltering, over-bearing heart. LOL But, no. I guess it's all about the right timing and having the kind of reltionship where you can be open with your pod-robots and be able to tell them the truth. Lying's no good. Trust me. They ALWAYS know. I really wish i had the guts to tell my mom...but i don't. I'm afraid. BUT. You should learn from my mistakes. Just tell her. I guarentee that she won't kill you for it (unlike my mother, who will turn into a fire breathing dragon and have me staked into a fire pit) ;)

Personally, I've never had a boyfriend, but when I do (if I do X_X) I would start off as explaining to my mom that I do care about this boy and he cares about me. You could tell her how he is a good boy (I'm assuming he is...?) and that you guys are going to take it slow and that you would feel better if your mom just met him and got to know him...

    I don't know...

I technically told my dad first...by accident! Lol.
I was so scared and i was supposed to be going out with my boyfriend and my mum wouldn't let me go...so i called my dad who was with family and was all "daaaaad, mum won't let me go out with matthew and we have plans and blah blah blah" and my dad was like "okay...WAIT! who the bloody hell is matthew?" and i was all uh-oh...

So after that it just came out...personally i think that was easier lol. Just slip it into conversation and see how she reacts. If it's a bad reaction (which i doubt it will be) you can then explain what a good guy he is...if it's a good reaction, you won't have made a big production out of it :)

When I told my mom I was dating someone I just kind of blurted it out.

    She said "Really?"

I'd suggest just tossing it in there. Just be like "I'm going to the mall with my boyfriend. See you later mom" and leave. Let it stew in her mind and when you come back. She'll probably be like "WHAT TEH FUX1?!?!?!!"

I am mustering up courage as I type. I'm really weird about these type of things?

    *hands you a candy cane*

    Just tell her.

    Be like:

"Hey mom, I've started dating someone and I'd like for you to meet him. Blah blah blah."
