v I'd never have the patience for a blanket -- unless it was something with lots of yarn-switching or something to make it interesting like the Craftsman Afghan KnitPicks was just selling the kit for -- so I'm not about to say they're easy. I probably wouldn't have the patience for a sweater, either, come to think of it. I'm just starting out, too, so I'm a lot slower than most knitters.

v Yeah, knitting is one of those things it's easiest to learn from someone else. Failing that, though, knittinghelp.com is incredibly useful, as is the Library of Knitting Stitches (http://www.knittingonthenet.com/stitches.htm). Also, if you decide to go for broke and start knitting, say, socks or gloves with actual fingers, TECHknitting.blogspot.com has lots of really useful diagrams for things like fingers and turning the heel.

Oh, also, yarn tips: avoid Red Heart yarns unless it's Red Heart Super Soft. They're cheap acrylic and it shows when you're working with them. Lion Brand has lots of good yarns for reasonable prices, and they're widely available at Michaels and Joann's. Um... Sugar n' Cream has some really nice cotton yarn... and Caron is generally good too.

I know! I was lusting after them for months before I finally broke down and bought the pattern. If you decide to buy it, too, I would suggest getting a Ravelry account (they're free) and buying it on there, because then you can download it immediately, rather than waiting a day for the designer to email it to you. I just linked to Etsy because you don't need an account to see the pictures there.

You're so lucky. I wish I had the patience to learn to knit. :(

There's so many cute things I'd love to be able to make myself.

And I just bookmarked that pattern for the slippers. Those are really cute.
