A Rant About "Comment Goals" - Comments
-

I asked for one comment before updating, just 1 comment! *shakes head* Didn't get it for a few months... Never asking for comments before updating again.December 31st, 2009 at 04:34pm

I hate that too.
I try my hardest not to do that
but sometimes I can't help it.
Or you just hint that you like comments.December 31st, 2009 at 02:09am -
Eighty-five is especially ridiculous, and I've always hated when writers put any sort of comment goal on their stories.December 31st, 2009 at 01:29am

I don't demand a certain number of comments before I update because I always update without waiting for them anyway. I just say that they make me happy lol.
And jeez 85?! Where'd you see that? I don't think I have that many readers yet!December 31st, 2009 at 01:25am -
v *demand. Sorry.December 31st, 2009 at 12:50am

I don't demend comments; I usually don't even ask for them. I know that a lot of people will just stop reading a story or not read it at all if the author is saying "comment, or no update." I usually so. It could be an awesome story too; but if they don't want to update until they get comments, then that's their problem.December 31st, 2009 at 12:47am

I agree. I absolutely hate it when I'm subscribed to a story and the writer does that! It's so annoying. Personally I don't really care if anyone reads or comments on my story. I write because I enjoy writing, and it's how I express myself. As you said we should write for ourselves.December 31st, 2009 at 12:45am

I hate when authors demand comments. Asking for them is fine. I ask for comments on my stories because I like them and I think if the readers know I appreciate them, they may actually comment. But to refuse to update for any amount of comments is absurd, childish, and stupid. I refuse to read stories that do this. Even if the story is amazing, I click out and refuse to comment or read.December 31st, 2009 at 12:45am

People that don't write for themselves shouldn't be writing at all. In all honesty.
It doesn't happen like that in the real world.
Authors usually have to buy their books and give them away to break through.
No one demands success out there.December 31st, 2009 at 12:44am -
Who would demand 85 comments before another update? That is ridiculous!!!
I just write for myself.
I like comments, but don't demand them.
It's mean.December 31st, 2009 at 12:42am
I completely agree with 100% of that!!!! you m'dear are totally right!!!!!!They turn it into a popularity contest, never about writing to their best ability. Its rather pathetic asking for comments!!! x
