They numb your eye(s) during the proceedure, so there shouldn't be any pain during. And unless it's botched, I don't think it should hurt afterward.

Johnny C. Yes, there is knifes involved. They have to remove the first later of your eye, then they do the laser.

You should look it up on youtube, they have plenty of videos showing what they do.

    V. I was taught differently. I put it on my index finger, lift my eye open with the middle finger from the hand holding the contact and my left index finger. I just plop it in the middle and blink. It readjusts itself.
I looked in the mirror at first to help.

I'm terrified of surgeries too XD
You get used to contacts after a while plus it's ALWAYS gunna be hard to put them on until you get used to them. When I first started it took me like an hour but now I just shove em in.
Just stare at something, get the your contact (in the middle) on your pinky and put it on the white part of your eye. Then staring at a mirror, move the contact and start blinking it in still staring at the same thing you've been staring at.

That's IF you have second thoughts about LASIK

I don't think there's any knives involved with eye surgery. I really don't know, but I think it's just lasers. At least that's how they do cataracs nowadays. They used to use big straight razor type things. :D

Well, if you are doing it, distract yourself by thinking about stuff. It always helps, and sometimes you don't even know what the hell's happening until you hear someone talking or you feel a twitch of pain. (This helps me at the dentist, aha!)
