When I write, I write for myself, not for anyone else. It's wonderful to have opinions of course and it's perfectly fine to ask them but when it gets to the whether or not you're going to do it, it shouldn't really matter what someone else says. If you want to go into detail for something than do it. You're going to get people that will like to read it, and people that wont so don't be afraid to take those risks just because someone is telling you otherwise. It's your story remember. :)
