I don't consider myself any of those stereotypes, and I've always have a fascination with Dracula (watched a documentary on him when I was a kid and have been hooked ever since).
Honestly, I find your post rather offensive. I was one of the first in my school to read Twilight, and I liked it at first. Mostly I just watch the movies now. Vampires don't really belong to a certain group. The idea and myths of vampires have been around much longer than any of the shows you mentioned and Twilight. The only real classic you named is Dracula.

Might want to get your facts straight.

Hey, I like Jacob Black. He's not even a vampire, so why would anyone who is obsessed with Edward do anything a werewolf says? Honestly, vampires don't belong to anyone. They are more apt to be involved in the imagination of a "gothic" or "emo", but they don't belong to anyone in particular (with the exception of their authors). I'm sure vampires could pwn a human anyway.

    And you spelled Stefan wrong.

    v. Obviously Dracula, but trying to sound articulate and smart by bashing Twilight based on how they've ruined vampires, and almost only use examples that would not fall under the category "real vampires" anyway isn't exactly making anything serious.

And also, I'm going to guess that you actually didn't get into vampires before Twilight. Otherwise you wouldn't have mentioned only one "proper" old school vampire in your little rant. Yes, Dracula (notice, correct spelling) is an old school vampire. Spike is not - he's not classed as a "proper" vampire either if you want to go there. Neither is anyone from Vampire Diaries (I'm going to go ahead and guess that you're talking tv-show only, please....).

Nosferatu, silentmovie from 1922 - there we've got a proper vampire. Same with Lestat from Anne Rice's books. Those you can use as examples, using Spike from Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Stephan from The Vampire Diaries isn't exactly making a point other than "hey I've only seen these few vampire things and now I class muhself as an expert kk!"

    Yeah, wow.

Er... I'm like the poster child for tomboys... and I have never once shown the remotest interest in vampires so please, don't call mythical creatures "our" thing.

First of all, this journal can't be taken very seriously due to the way you've expressed it. I mean, seriously, how on earth have Twilight ruined vampires? They also did not use to belong to any stereotype at all, that's honestly ridiculous. I've been fashinated by vampires since I was a kid, and I've never belonged to any of those stereotypes.

    He's also Dracula, not Draculla.

I'm just going to say that the stereotypes here kind of made me laugh, along with your username for some reason. Just sayin'.

I agree that it ruined vampires because people do tend to freak when Dracula is mentioned and be like, "NO, EDWARD IS A REAL VAMPIRE D<". So you're right about that. I sat at the pot smokers/'emo' lunch table two years ago when it was becoming popular among them in my school, and we had one copy of each Twilight book in the library and they were almost always there. Among us, we'd read a new book, then put it back in the library, then another one of us would get it out and it would circulate. And we got made fun of for reading Twilight. So I really do hate the hypocrisy that's going on here. :L

hey hey hey im a vampire but i dont sparkle...i glisten! I would say check your spelling but im sure a shizz load of my stuff will be spelled wrong because of my tumbs :3

Anyways my opinion is that Twilight didnt ruin vampires. I read the book in 05 which is around the time it came out i think. I absoultly loved it. And i became obbssessd. To tell you the truth i think twilight brought back vampires. It gave other vampire books a boost. Of course nothing can beat the classics but you know.

Oh and you classifing the twilight books/vampires being only for goth emos etc is wrong. Im not any of those and ive been in love with vampires since i was 3. Just saying
