Thank you for understanding. And I don't think I made this clear in my post... Honestly, I try not to judge by it, but I do disagree with having an overly active sex life. Being sexually active is nothing to be ashamed of. I am myself, and there's nothing wrong with that! I just don't believe a woman should hold herself back from having one, in light of being called a "slut" or a "whore."
And, more and more these days, men are less glorified for their sexual encounters. By some other men, they might be, and even by some women, but I know a lot of people who find that sort of thing, even in men, disgusting. Also, women are glorified for their sexual encounters as well. I know more than one who seems to think sex with as many as possible is the right idea. I feel you're sort of stereotyping the man vs woman when it involves sexual conquests.
I'm glad you have the right view of feminism. It's about equality, not women's domination over men or the complete stamping out of 'traditional roles.' It's about choice and freedom and standing up for it. Thank you for expressing that view for all of Mibba to see and learn from. I must say, I loathe people who sit their calling women who choose to be homemakers "weak" while claiming to be feminists. They obviously don't know what the whole thing was about.
I understand your rant on the sex, slut, player thing, but I must insert my personal view. Any girl who has sex with multiple guys a day is a whore, and any guy who has sex with multiple girls a day is also a whore. I don't think anything is wrong with having an active sex life [having one myself with my own boyfriend], but I think their is a limit to what is 'active' and what it just plain 'nasty.' And the limit is the same for both genders. If, within a month, your number of sex partners goes up by thirty, that's just nasty. I think, if you really want to have sex that much, then get a girl/boyfriend or at least a 'fuckbuddy.' It doesn't have to last forever, mind you, but I know I wouldn't want more then ten guys all up in my stuff in a week.
I also want to point out that sexism is decreasing rapidly. Yes, there are still problems with it, but since when has any problem been fully resolved? Hell, we still have hardcore racists running around and it's likely that we always will. Sexism, racism, discrimination against non-heterosexuals.. All of it is wrong and ever-present, but the problem has been solved in a lot of areas and a lot of places. Some, like non-heterosexual marriage, are still being fought about and need more and more support, but even that has been solved in some states. I'm not saying there isn't a need to fight for these things always, but I am saying that you have to understand the possibility, probability and likelihood that these kinds of problems will never be fully solved. Stand up for what you believe in and keep on strong always, but don't be let down if you don't fully succeed everywhere, because that, my fellow feminist, is ignorance. And no one likes that word:]
Why just a woman? I would call a man a slut too if he was sexually promiscuous. I find the word "man-whore" to be completely obsolete. It's ridiculous that he can be glorified for being a "sexually premiscious man," while women are insulted for it.
I think it's perfectly fine to call a woman a whore or a slut or something. Because they're words to describe women... You wouldn't really call a guy slutty, would you?
There are different words for different kinds of people. It's not that big a deal.
There is such a thing as a slut. There is such a thing as a whore. However people have forgotten what those words really mean. But saying "there's no such thing as" isn't valid, because there is.
