I've actually wanted to go blonde for a while, but my stylist talked me out of it... but I think I'll be a bit more persistent this time. lol.

You definitely could. :)
But my advice would be to strip your hair of whatever die you have in now, so that you are back to your natural colour. Once you've done that, you wait a couple of days and then die your hair blonde. My sister in law is a hair dresser, and she says that that is always your best bet when doing a light colour.

And as long as you used all sorts of hair care products, I don't think it would damage your hair.
