Not that this will make you feel any better and the 10,398,740,192,348 other things on your list, but you can serve your country now if you ever want to.
DADT was just repealed on Wednesday. That is, unless MSN is lying to me.
The vote was 65-31 in the Senate and 250-175 in the House of Representatives.
the wild thing is, it's amazing how we don't realize everything we take for granted here until we go somewhere else, and it's far from what we expected.
Ha, I wish I could come out to my parents...my mom would probably be in denial though, whether she was homophobic or not. My dad wouldn't care, but whenever he yelled at me for something I did, he'd hold it against me. He's done that with other things I've told him about, and I can't stand it.
I really only have my parents and siblings (who are all either toddlers or babies), because the rest of my family is pretty messed up, and we hate them...so no aunts in Chinese buffets =_=
@nevermore
Fathers will always be that way, because a lot of them were told growing up to not show affection towards other men, because it means something is wrong with them. If your dad can't accept you for who you are, then that's his loss. Someday you'll be out on your own, he'll be alone and old, and he'll feel sorry all he ever did was critcize you.
It's it the greatest thing ever? My Godmother teaches Othello to her Juniors, and one of them showed her so she showed me. ::D
That makes me think that she wants to be okay with gays, but is having trouble with that. But I don't know. That's my guess.
When I came out to my aunt, we had a lovely discussion about lesbian sex in a Chinese buffet. No lie.
My church doesn't allow gay pastors, and actually wrote a letter to the like, head of the UCC churches to try and make it like that for all UCC churches. Half of the Sunday School is bi. Ha.
V.
I'm sorry, that's gotta suck. I know it was hard for me to tell my family when I knew they were accepting, so I can't even imagine what's going on in your head and your heart right now.
And one time my mom and I were in the car and we were talking about how horrible our old church used to be and I mentioned how I thought it was horrible that gays and lesbians got kicked out of churches. Her eyes got real wide, and she was stuttering, but she said she agreed with me.
My brother used to do it all the time, and when i started getting harassed at school, he stopped saying things like that because he realized it was wrong. I correct my friends when they say things like that. People don't realize that it hurts. That it is, in a way, homophobia that's widely accepted.
V. Stay stong, okay? <3 And watch Sassy Gay Friend on Youtube. That always helps me.
Thanks guys. I'm currently firmly in the closet everywhere but on Mibba, and whilst no one's said anything to me directly, I've still heard more offending things this week than since school started.
v Sadly, I can only think of two countries that might be a little better, but even they have serious drawbacks in the homophobic attitudes of their peoples.
My mom uses the word "faggot" and the word "gay" all the time, and one day i jsut went up to her and told her to knock it off, because homophobia is sick and she was really upsetting me (I'm bi, she doesn't know that though) and she said she was sorry, and that she wasn't homophobic, it's just words everyone uses.
I get the homophobia thing. Seriously. I've gotten harassed about my sexuality before. I also can't stand when people use the word "gay" as a negative, or use the term "faggot." But that happens constantly at my school.
And if you ever need anyone to talk to, feel free to drop me a message. A problem shared is a problem halved, or whatever that expression is.
Yeah, usually I am a positive thinker, took the whole 'if you don't laugh, you'll cry' attitude towards life a while ago. It's just this weeks been really shitty for this stuff in school, and it's one of the only sensitivities I have left. Make fun of me for anything else and I'm fine, but homophobia just. . . gets to me.
Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
