Well, from the way I see it, this 'Freckles' person sounds a bit like a tool. I mean, you had a prior relationship (which didn't work out obviously) and not to be rude, but what caused it to end?

There's a fine line between being honest and constructive versus just being a rude, immature little prick. I would sever all ties of friendship with that 'best friend.' It doesn't seem like it's worth it.
