    I agree with you. It's stupid how people say these things in English. I mean, they should use the language correct. For example, if they said "I'm going to die" they should actually be saying "I'm about to die." Sorry for saying the obvious.

    Going is generally ascociated with a place going to school etc. The English language was a mixture of many different languages, and therefore there will always be inconsistencies. Going means an inevitability when concerning death. We're all going to die. It has no emotion behind it, going is a certainty in most cases therefore it doesn't sound like you're going to deliberately walk into a death trap, to me, the phrase going to die could be a poorly translated version of going to death, which would make sense in the context of the highly religious society the English language was founded in, using the word going as a literal idea of death not being the end. As for These ones are pretty, I wouldn't use that at all. It's a grammatical error and it would commonly be used verbally rather than in a written form. These are pretty is the grammatically correct version of that sentence, it's only contradicting because it's wrong.
