I think it's also important to recognise that caring about grammar is a class and cultural thing- thus the prevalence of deliberately rebellious slangs in ethnic and other subcultures. In this sense, the 'correctness' of a person's speech is very subjective, even when our educational and political standards of grammar are well-defined. It's for these reasons more than anything else that attempting to 'fix' somebody's speech without their consent, or outside of an appropriate situation, can cause offence.

I have a story called, 'Sevenfold' (original fiction, nothing to do with the band), that could use readers. It's a gothic/fantasy type of thing.

On the note of 'anyway', I understand grammar and what it's like to see other people making simple mistakes, but I think that unless you know the person will appreciate being corrected, it's probably rude to do so. As long as you can make sense of what they're saying, it's a bit petty to confront them on the basis of a technicality.

Of course, it's different if you're a teacher or editing somebody's work, if the person is a close friend who won't be offended, or if the conversation is taking place in a context where a certain standard of education or formality is implied. Outside of that, though, I think it's unnecessary, and people will probably just think you're acting superior. Everyone has pet peeves, but I think we're all responsible for keeping our obsessions under control.

Aw, don't feel too bad. I was born in Texas, but I live in Louisiana--a place with no sense of grammar or speech. =\

I don't think it's wrong, really. I mean, we all have our own pet peeves. (And I'm in agreement with you on the word like. It's really annoying =\ ) And, actually, I do agree with you on the 'anyways' deal, as well.
