So true... I've been called that for nothing more than heavy eyeliner and having bright red hair... thanks for posting this!

To everyone that keeps quoting the thing about what Gerard had said about "Emo", I got that from an article I had read a long time ago, that is an actual quote, of an actual quote. Although I should have had it quoted or something.

Also, please don't get into fights, I mean a debate is one thing, and I don't mind those, but telling someone to grow up, is not, something someone would say in a debate. So please, just share your opinions, and don't verbally attack someone, it's not nice, and I will report you if it continues to happen.

    c h e r r y- yep, I'm her. :)

breathecassidy- I've read on Wiki that 'emo' is a genre of music, so please don't be rude about it when you don't know how I even got the info. Personally, I think being labeled 'emo' is a load of garbage. No offense to those who think they are. I'm not trying to be rude about it, just stating my opinion. Get over it? I didn't even start it. I was just stating a fact.

breathecassidy She was explaining what it was. And it is a music genre. Go on Wikipedia and check. It was a musical genre before it became a trend. So, yeah...

Emo is not a music genre. It is a label that people put on people who try to represent punk & gothic looks. Emo people are the people that call Themselves Emo. Which is none as a fake, poser, & garbage. You wan't "Emo" music? Listen to BVB & Vampires Everywhere!. MCR is not Emo & refused to be known as it. People who fit the label & call themselves Emo also call that music Emo because they are all fake people. Get over it for f*cks Sake.

That is pure bullshit, the front man of My Chemical Romance, Gerard Way, has publicly rejected the term "Emo", describing the genre as "Fucking garbage" and “Bullshit“.

^ ^ That was written years ago. And it's true what The Rumor said. They were referring to the genre and not really the style. Gerard himself has said that their first albums were more gothic-ish.

Anyway, I used to wear hoodies, skinny jeans, t-shirts, and converse. All of a sudden the term came out and everyday random kids from my school were checking if I was cutting so I had to change how I dressed. The term literally just popped out. The label, I mean.

So, yeah. I will say that I was friends with a "Scene kid" guy. He was 21 and he would only hang out with people who were either emo, gothic, punk, or scene. He had just started labeling himself as that. Yeah, I didn't appreciate it. Anyway, yeah.

I won't say anything here because people (not the author :p) tend to twist my words around and turn it into something else.

The Rumor- he also said that he doesn't give the genre the time of day, and doesn't want anything to do with it.

He referred to the term 'emo' as fucking garbage, not the genre.
