In some societies, the notion is reversed.

At least it is in my society. Skinny is actually indeed frowned at, and look on as unhealthy or sickly even if some people really can't help it. Girls are encouraged to have more meat on their bones, and be curvier. Can you imagine what that's like for the "skinny" girls? There's a greater, western culture telling you that you look absolutely gorgeous with your small frame and the culture you're living in tells you that you look like a scarecrow if you're less than a size twelve.

I think the problem lies with people being obsessed with looks.
Who cares if you're skinny or have curves, having curves or being stick thin, it shouldn't matter.
I'm basically flat chested and have no curves, its not my fault, why should i be judged, same goes for girls with curves.
It just doesn't matter, and saying girls that have curves are better is exactly the same as someone saying skinny is better.

I like being healthy AND thin :3 I see so many "big" girls get put down and called ugly and so many thin girls called beautiful. Which is why I think being thin and healthy is good. It's been engraved into my mind, ya know? I believe "big is beautiful" but I don't wanna be "big and beautiful." I wanna be thin, healthy, and happy :3

    I'm a walking contradiction. .

wh0r3 I know that being skinny doesn't mean you're healthy, but I like to be healthy and thin. I agree with you to an extent, but my opinion is that being healthy and thin is best.

This journal is contradictive and judgemental. I agree that being 'fat' should be more acceptable, but I don't agree with putting 'skinny' people down in order to achieve that. Similarly, I don't think POC should put white people down in order to gain rights and be seen differently, the same goes with the LGBT+ community and heterosexuals, people of minority religions and Christians, women and men, etc. It's counterproductive, because you're advocating for society to change, yet you really want it to stay the same but with the privileged group and the unprivileged group swapped around.

I'm really small and trust me, it's not by choice. I get more shit for being the size I am than my friend who is "heavier set" gets. I'm just barely 100 pounds and it grosses ME out. It's not my fault though. I eat white rice 24/7 and I just had a huge bowl of pudding yesterday. I understand what you're saying and I don't agree with people who obsess over their weight.

    v. how is skinny healthier than being bigger?
Being skinny doesn't necessarily mean you're healthy, being fat doesn't necessarily mean you're unhealthy.

I agree and disagree. Yeah, it's sick how people obsess over their weight and that people get put down because of their body types but at the same time I like the way skinny looks. I like feeling skinny and I think fitness, health, and being thin are both important and beautiful.

There are plenty of people who struggle with being able to gain weight just as there are people who struggle to lose it. My mother, for instance, has struggled with being naturally very skinny her entire life, and though she eats perfectly normal, she just has a very high metabolism and gets just as much crap for being to thin as she would for being too chunky.

You made a good point, but I don't think it's very nice to call any body type 'gross'.

I'm 105 pounds, I've been skinny all my life. I've been called anorexic before, and made fun of for being so skinny. So if you think that only larger people get put down for their size, think again.

This has to be one of the best journals I've seen.
I hate how it seems the only girls the guys at my school think are pretty are the stick thin, flat chested, no ass girls. I've liked guys who weren't skinny, to admit it. Because they were funny, smart, respectful, and nice. Image is nothing to me.

Some people can't help being thin, no matter how hard they try to get meat on their bones.
But I for one agree with you. And lately I've been working on my self-image and been feeling better and less 'fat' everyday thanks to a bit of an eye opener.
But I agree with what you said.

I'm naturally thin. I'm not one of those people who said "I want to be under 100lbs." It's just the way I am. People have asked me if I'm anorexic. I'm not. And I hate that because I'm skinny people have to assume that.
