This shit does pisses me off. I mean seriously. I have guy friends and some of them think what happens in porn should happen in the bedroom. Really?
I am just like you. I am very lucky to have a husband who actually cares about me. He always checks and makes sure its not just sex, its love.
I wish more guys could see that porn is just for sex for the eyes not for an actual reenactment of it.

V I hate that too, the world is really low sometimes,
No one ever looks for rape or abuse,
    It's so wrong,

v That may be the accusation, but I'm sure you'd agree it isn't remotely true. Yes, sometimes women do choose a career in the adult industry--it doesn't make them deserve the abuse, any more than women who go out in skimpy clothing were "asking for it" if they get raped.

I just hate that mentality of this culture, that if a woman chooses to be promiscuous, to dress a certain way, to act a certain way, then it's her own fault if she's sexually assaulted.

V That's true, abuse should never be necessary.
But half the people accuse porn stars that is their fault for doing what they do, and that's why they get abused.
    Just saying,

v v Abuse never "should" be necessary. It never is. It should never happen.

v I don't see this as any worse than spreading awareness over any other kind of abuse. It just happens that here I'm discussing a specific kind of abuse within a specific industry. I don't think it should be a problem, but if it is I'll take it up with the admins when necessary.

But I hope not, as well.

V I think abuse shouldn't be necessary on these girls,
    It's really wrong,

v I've always kind of assumed there was a high degree of disrespect and misogyny. I didn't realize it (so frequently) broke down into physical, verbal, and sexual abuse.

I'm a fan of porn to be honest,
But I've always sordof knew these girls get treated like dirt,
Which is wrong and I don't think it should happen,
I agree with what you say though, very true.

v Please don't use that "no homo" phrase. =( It makes me sad.

I certainly hope I don't get reported. I'm not sitting here discussing sexual adventures or anything like that--merely pointing out a very...flawed system, to put it politely. I do think it's important that people are aware of the issues behind this particular genre of "entertainment." I'm certainly not one to argue that porn is bad, but there are overlooked aspects of its production that I feel are worth letting people know about. Until I was reading up on it today, I didn't even realize the extent of the issue.

If I do get reported, though, I'll make sure to plead my case to whoever I need to plead my case to. I doubt I'll get banned for one journal that some people may consider out of line, especially considering I have a clean record and have done my best to be respectful about it.

    v. Sorry. My iPod is a physical failure. Haha...
    But yes.
Other people have "lightly" discussed sex and gotten reported and banned for it. I just don't want it to happen to you.
    Cause I like you.
    No homo.

I wouldn't be able to either, frankly.

v The first sentence had a couple typos, but were you saying if I get reported you're going apesh-t? Why? Is there a danger of me getting reported for this? Surely I'm not the first to discuss sex here. It's not graphic, and it's really more or less a political subject. And why would you go apesh-t?

But yeah, it's definitely more than a little disturbing. Just reading the article, I nearly cried. There were others that went as far as to watch videos from the documentary, but it would have made me physically ill.

v In certain areas. As Jahvis was saying, not all companies within the industry are like that. But I suppose certain titles at least give you a potential clue to what behind-the-scenes is like, because if the title is degrading, more than likely the production is, too.

Oh yeah, of course. I definitely didn't mean that verbal abuse is worse than rape. I just meant that there is no respect whatsoever, in any sense of the word. I'm sure the behind the scenes is unimaginable; just the way the women are talked to is disgusting.

Jahvis - Exactly. And I have a feeling mine will be nagging at me for a while. =/

v See, and I don't care for that either. The verbal disrespect is obvious just about everywhere. But physical and emotional abuse that borders on rape...or maybe sometimes IS rape, for all I know. That's a whole other level. It's terrifying.

Stuff like this makes me mad beyond words.
With titles like, "Blonde whore this" and "Slut with big tits that" its pretty obvious that they don't respect women.
I have no problem with porn, but no woman deserves to be abused like that.

I know. :( And it's really hard to tell which ones do and don't, because how often would these things go reported? You can never be sure if what you're watching is cruelty-free. And the last thing you want while watching porn is your conscience nagging at you.

v I know not every company is. Some are obviously worse than others. I would never assume that anyone involved in the porn industry is a monster or anything like that. It's just scary to think what a high percentage of the porn industry involves that kind of abuse. Even if it's not every company, even if it's, say, half of them, a third of them--that's still a damn lot of abuse and potential abuse going on.

There are porn companies out there that do their best to prevent abuse to their actors, but they are not big names and hard to come across. I have found gay porn where the actors are actually gay as well.

Another tidbit: I have a friend who used to be a photographer for BDSM porn and she says that her work environment was very positive and compassionate. So it's not every company out there that's horrible, but there are quite a few bad apples.
