Why do you think Anakin turned to the dark side? What things influenced him? Greed. He loved his wife so much that he couldn't see her hurt but when his actions were starting to kill her, he refused to acknowledge that ...at least fully, part of him did but he just didn't care. He had power, he was always held back because he was younger or he wasn't ready but whatshisface (can't remember the Sith's name) allowed him to just push forward with all the raw energy and power.
In the end, Anakin was a power hunger greedy little boy. He was doing what he wanted do, no matter what would happen. He just didn't care, he thought he was right and that was all that mattered. He saw with his own two eyes what he did, he knew it was his fault but rather then accept that he chose to blame his best friend.
Anakin was too young to be taken seriously on the council but because he was young enough to be influenced the Sith was able to influence him to the dark side which was why he wanted him on the council or by his side so much, it wasn't that he liked Anakin, it was just that he was a young mind that he could mold to the perfect solider.
At least that's how I see it.
The part where Anakin had nurturing female influences is just a bonus, it pushed him into the dark side's direction -- he as a boy who would do anything to save those he loved, it was just all the wrong things because he wouldn't ask for help because he refused to see he had people that cared for him. He came to see that they didn't really care for him.
I don't know anything about Gone but this is the fourth time I've heard good things about it.
Hope something I've said helps, you don't have to swap but if you want to feel free to look at whatever.
Good luck with your assignment!

I haven't read gone, but I do love Star Wars.
Hm.. I think what really influenced him was trying to do what was best for Padame and his unborn children. He was influenced into thinking that the dark side would do better and give him more with out depriving him of what the Jedi side said was wrong. He got so wrapped up in this idea of a "better" life that it blinded him to why he was doing it to begin with.April 2nd, 2012 at 05:07am -

@Miss Forgotten, if you've read Gone, what do you think influences Sam's heroism?
