I love creative names. I don't want a kid who's going to get stuck in a school full of kids named Jessica, or Justin, or Taylor, or any other common name.
And if anyone ever bullied my kid whenever I have one because of his/her name, and I found out about it, it'd go down, because I wouldn't take it, and neither should my kid.
My middle name, which I'm not going to put up here but still, you wouldn't believe how many girls share the same middle name as me. I don't hate my middle name, I was named after someone very important in my family, but really, it grows kind of tiring when I find out a bunch of other people have my name.
Or when people confuse my first name. I know a girl named Kathleen, we're friends, and people confuse our names. Catherine and Kathleen. It's quite annoying.
When someone has an original name, chances are, you won't confuse them.
I'm in college and one of my peers is named Baby Luv. Try getting a decent job with that name. My cousin wants to name her baby Krymson Neveah? I mean whatever floats their boats but like my English teacher said, whose name is Laquanda, she wishes her parents would have thought about her future rather than a baby with a unique name. Because seriously, who wants to take grammar lessons from someone named Laquanda? That's what she said anyway. There are some names that are just dorky like Melvin or something. I prefer cute quirky names, not out of this world. Like I'm not going to name a baby after a fruit or transformer.
I have a cousin who's going to be 19 and she's naming her baby Nevaeh. Which really isn't that weird since she's wanted to name a kid that for years, since she was like...15. And it's just Heaven spelled backwards.
I feel so awful for kids who are named something weird or named something that's pronounced normally, but spelled like it's from a different culture. They must go through hell trying to get people to pronounce them right or spell them right every single time they meet someone. Honestly, it seems like a desperate plea of the parents to have something cool and unique reflect back upon them rather than define their children.
Heck, my grandmother named my dad Marcel, which is the French version of Marc. That's a real, common name in another country. Despite that, it got my dad beat up for years when he was growing up because it was uncommon here in the States.
And this is why I'm struggling to come up with a girl name that isn't off the wall lmao. I SWEAR I knew a girl named Lemonade, I'm not kidding. I like different spelling, but to a certain degree :P but yeah I'm not going to go that route. Ever.
I like names that are less popular (Vincent, Atticus, Julian, Billie, Cassidy, Delaney) but still make sense. Not some ridiculous name (or a ridiculous spelling of a more common name.)
Case in point: A girl I used to know was actually named La-a. How do you pronounce that? (Hint: Pronounce the symbol.)
i've know adults who name their kids stupider shit. my brother's teacher told his class about a female student he'd had whose name was spelled chandelier but pronounced shuh-lawn-duh-leer
