Who says it doesn't bother people? At the least, it bothers me on occasion. Some stories really get to me; they move me. The saying, "No news is good news" comes to mind. Sensationalism isn't a new technique; it's been around for centuries. They want viewers to fund their network. I can liken most of news to watching a train wreck. It's an atrocity, but you can't look away.
