I agree with notweirdbutunique and jerusalem;;. I am a Muslim and Islam is nothing like the media put it to be. I wear hijjab since I was 12 and I never thought of taking it off because I think wearing it gives me an identity and I can express myself through my hijjab. Maybe your friend just doesn't understand the religion. Try talk to him about it and explain it to him. Maybe when he understands, he'll be less judgmental.

I'm not Muslim, I'm a Buddhist. I'm extremely open minded. And my thought is as long you are happy with the way you are heading then keep going. Just because one person doesn't like it doesn't mean you have to listen to what they have to say. Be strong! If you like the scarf then wear it! I find that they are beautiful and they tend to make others look beautiful too. Good luck!

You've experienced the religion first hand right? And what do you think?

The media tends to dramatise many things, religion being so exception. I'm a Muslim and I know Islam isnt bad at all. Use experience over gossip. Plus the hijab is gorgeous, I too am a hijabi, I dont see the big deal. I always give this example, the virgin mary never appears in any image without her scarf. Nuns too! So they are pious but we oppressed. Oppression for us would be people taking away the hijab from us.

If you'd like PM me :)
Maybe We can talk and i can help you whenever you need the help and advice :)

    Hi dear,

I read your blog and I can understand your situation. I'm a Muslim myself and I must say, Islam isn't what the media (or the world) portrays us to be. We're the complete opposites and our religion is nothing but peaceful. I'm married, but my husband doesn't oppress me. In fact, I'm still having my freedom, although I do have the responsibility of heeding his advise when he told me 'no' to certain things.

If you want to have a chat with me, feel free to PM me :))
