The support of 'progressive' Christians for civil partnerships or secular same-sex marriages leaves me so cold when it's accompanied by homophobic nonsense about how same-sex (religious) marriages are 'unbiblical'. I think that for a lot, if not most, Christian LGB people being able to marry the person they love before God is a lot more important than being able to do so before the state - I don't see why this is so hard to understand.
Personally I've always felt that people should be able to marry whomever they like; although I do agree that I'm not likely to go on an epic crusade on either front. I adore your signature, by the way. Halestorm <3
v. Why you're welcome (: I just feel like my personal beliefs should never inhibit the lives of other people. I don't think it's a good example of the love Christ has for us. XD
Huh. I...wow. Thank you. =) So many people absolutely refuse to change their minds on an issue once they have made up their minds, and I can probably safely say that most people in the LGBTQ community (myself included) and most allies would be very grateful and impressed and proud that you are open-minded enough to make this kind of statement and it's really awesome and it makes me want to hug you.
A straight, satanist couple could get married. A pedophile could get married. A murderer could get married. A thief could get married. A liar could get married. A prostitute could get married. A rapist could get married. Sinners can get married, just not gay people cuz we're fuckin weird!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
