Well, if you don't finish it, then you'll never get everything said that you need to so you can go back and revise. Seriously, read Shitty First Drafts. It helped me a ton when I read it for my Fiction class in college, and from what you're saying I think you might find it pretty useful, too.

I will definately have to check out his blog then, maybe then things will start looking up =)

Thats why I never finish any of my stories lol. But it's like I write a lot of stuff, I am constantly writing, it's just like I said though, I personally dont think it is good enough so I just dont finish it. I have god knows how many unfinished stories that started out with what I thought were awesome plots but of course I doubted myself lol

I just hope that with pushing myself to do not only this, but also the things I need to do in my english class that hopefully I can reach my goal =)

But yeah, multiple times Neil Gaiman's said that he writes stuff with the attitude of "I hope people like it," not "Wow this is great!" And seriously, he's my HERO. <3 Answers fan question on Tumblr (as many as he can get to, he gets about a hundred a day and only answers about five of them a day because he's a busy man) and he has TONS of writing advice on his web site's blog and he's just incredible and honest and just fantastic. <3

Trust me, if you think you "got it perfect" the first time, you probably have a pretty skewed idea of your own writing. =P The first draft is to figure out what you're saying, and you can always edit. I know sometimes the editing process feels difficult, but it's worthwhile, of course. =)

And yeah, if you want to be a writer, you've got to write regularly. Something I'm still struggling with after years of writing.

Haha thanks, to be honest it feels like I have to get it perfect the first time around or else it is going to be the crappiest piece of writing ever. I will definately check that stuff out though, it seems pretty interesting to say the least. But again thanks for the comment, it actually gave me a tiny boost of confidence to actually go through with the weekly writings, and to be honest it feels good to know that I am not alone on that front either.

Don't worry about not liking what you write. A lot of authors don't. I highly suggest you keep an eye on Neil Gaiman's tumblr as well as his blog on his web site--he talk a lot about his own feelings about writing and I've found it incredibly helpful. Neil Gaiman has basically become my literary role model.

Also, if you get a chance, read the essay called "Shitty First Drafts." It gives you a little insight to the writing process and it's a nice reminder that it's okay if your first draft sucks and you're not sure what you're actually saying--you can figure all that out later. =)
