I like what you've written in your blog. It makes sense. Most of the arguments are valid and I do agree with those who commented below. I am a fan of the lads, but I have a love-hate relationship with them because I can't stand them of their drama.Twitch

Hell, I need to listen to some FOB. Now.

A lot of people are coming up with really good and perfectly valid points here, so there's not much I wish to add.

I will say this though, I was watching A Dose of Buckley on youtube (very good commentator of you don't know or are interested) and his thoughts on the boys. He brought up the point of them being exactly like The Beatles when they first came out all those years ago, writing songs to appeal to the masses of teen and preteen girls. It was basically to get popular so they could move on to writing different stuff later. Take for example I Want To Hold Your Hand. And then Eleanor Rigby. (His examples, not mine cause I'm not a super huge fan and don't listen to The Beatles)

But I totally agree with you here. I am waiting for them to come up with a song that's actually relevant, (Not that teen girls and their insecurities aren't, but I hope people see the point..) and not something about how we have 'that one thing'.

"It sickens me the way music sells nowadays"

Actually, it's been selling that way for years. It's pop music, just like the Backstreet Boys and NSync, they didn't write their own songs either and all they sung about was love. The music industry is a bit evil yet very intelligent from a business stand point. Get five attractive guys who can sing and you have instant success. The record company makes millions and the teen girls are happy.

God it makes me sick when they look at the camera with the big ol puppy dog eyes and you just know some girl is watching it and squealing because she thinks the song is about her. LOLOL I'M JUST DYING. DOES THIS ACTUALLY HAPPEN?

I like One Direction and all, yeah. But I don't think that and it's kind of creepy that girls think they song is about them. Lol no get out of here they're all legal and you're 12.

They don't even write their own songs, but I guess that's because they're a pop group? I don't know, really. I found it slightly appalling that she didn't write their own music. Coming from metal fandoms, it's weird. Not that metal bands are the only bands that write their own music, but I didn't know that some bands sing songs that they didn't write. And not just cover songs. >_>

Actually, music has always used "pretty boys" and "pretty girls" to sell music and stuff to appeal to the younger generation. Back in my day, N*Sync, Backstreet Boys, Brittney Spears, A*Teens, and many others were used to appeal to my age group. So, it's not just 1d and some of these other bands nowadays. As a matter of fact, as much as I'd hate to admit it, Genesis, the band I'm deeply into, kinda fits into the "pretty boy band" theme.

But anywho, I do agree to some extent. The music industry is trying to get people to sell out while trying to find some way appealing to the younger generation.

I'm not a 1D fan / directioner so this blog amused me, actually.

Mainly because my friend is a directioner and I almost laughed (yeah, bitch move, I know) when she said Little Things described her insecurities so well. Like, no. But then again, she said it was because it mentioned something about squeezing herself into her jeans. Yep. That's probably why I found it funny in a cruel, sick way. 1D is encouraging girls to wear clothes that don't fit them! OMFG

    Anything to make money, eh?
Though Little Things was written by a man who isn't in the music business for the money, because he's proved countless times he feels emotions like no other.

Gather up five boys, give them an annoying/catchy song and you got a million and one girls buying their music on iTunes.

    It's only common sense nowadays.
