Lol, actually, from what I read he is a very cuddly kitten. But in my head that's what I would be thinking... like I can almost see him with Snape's voice...

Haha, true. The Grinch did get happy when he thought about ruining Christmas. He's just too cute. Lol.

The reason he's happy makes him even more grumpy cat, kinda like the Grinch, ya know? Gosh, I adore that cat.

Lol, I don't know whether to love it or be sad because he looks happy when he's supposed to be grumpy cat, but he's happy at something bad so...I don't even.

Well, that's what training is for. People don't realize that dogs don't have hands like we do, so how do they grab things? Most of the time they use their mouth. Like Justice will take my wrist in his mouth and "lead" me to the leashes to show me he wants to walk. So, you've got to train them not to nip or bite. There's many reasons a dog may attack. Provocation, how it was trained(if), health issues etc, hardly any of it is a random act of violence that it was born to do. There was probably warning signs of growing aggression, etc.
    Lol, I don't blame you.

All dogs are adorable. It's how they're raised, honestly, and their age. I feel that older dogs are more grumpy, and younger dogs are more likely to nip and that'a how they play. Most of the time, it's not the dog's fault.
I'm really gonna coin that saying: Just because we have the ability to do something doesn't mean we do. Lol.

Really couldn't say it better myself. I owned a great rottweiler, boxers are adorbs, pits are sweet... I LOVE ALL THE DOGS, MM'KAY. Lol. It's sad though, even if the dog is provoked then it's normally automatic put down. Like the dog that attacked me, that was my fault.

I swear, I've met some of the sweetest pits ever. I've met great Rottweilers. I own two boxers. If my dogs ever bit me, they were provoked. All dogs have the ability to be aggressive, just like any human has the ability to become a mass-murderer. But just because we're able to do something doesn't mean we do it.

That makes a load of sense. I was always worried when playing tug-o-war with our dogs because they do have strong jaws, but I was worried about their teeth. Though, Justice cheats and swings his paw over on your hand and he weighs so much so you have to let go. Justice also does the mouth thing that you were talking about. It's so funny because he just has your wrist in his mouth but he is so gentle about it. I think it's cute.

That's what always annoyed me is people make the reputation worse. They want a "vicious" dog to protect their house so they go out and buy a pit but then they don't train it properly or they leave it out on a chain. Burns me up, because all dogs need the proper training and if you start security training you really can't stop, which is when a lot of behavior problems come into play.

I think the reason you can find so many statistics on pitbulls and brutality are...well, an issue of mistaken causality. Rather than just saying "Pitbulls have a vicious reputation because they're vicious animals," I honestly think it's more the opposite--pitbulls are, statistically, often vicious because of their vicious reputation. Someone who WANTS a vicious dog is more likely to get one that has a reputation for being such, and so the dogs that get brought up to behave that way are more often going to be pitbulls and other dogs with that reputation.

I have known and talked to probably dozens of people with pitbulls, and not one of them has ever been bitten. Yes, pitbulls have VERY strong jaws, and it's true that if they don't want to let go, they wont--I've played tug-of-war with a couple and lost every time. =P But I've seen those same dogs when their owners are roughhousing with them, and even when they're playing "rough," they WILL NOT let their jaws close. One of them, Magnet--honestly, if you're roughhousing with him, he'll sit there growling and acting mean, but you could literally put your fist in his mouth and he'll just hold his mouth open to avoid biting you.

Like I said, I understand why pitbulls have a bad reputation, but I think it's a matter of peoples' responses to the reputation perpetuating the reputation itself, if that makes any sense.

Yeah, when I was trying to figure out how to train one of my dogs I spent days doing research because my dad used to train dogs but he never taught me, well... last time I seen him I was five so... doubt I would have listened. But I think that's one of the niches I would love to pick up. People really do need to train their animals at least to some extent. Even if it's just to teach them not to jump on counters or run out of doors.

Swimming lessons would be so much fun. I used to try to take Sue swimming but she hated it. >:/ Little butt. It would have been fun, too.

Yeah, but aren't mice like deer and possums? You know if threatened remain as still as possible, or something like that.
