For me it's all about the inspiration, and the competition. I like seeing what story I can create, and if it's good enough to place or even win the whole thing. I enter contests with objectives that inspire me, and the competitiveness helps me strive to be a better writer. I honestly don't care about prizes all that much, beyond getting some feedback on other stories.

Usually for me, it's a mixture of "theme" and "prizes." I have to be inspired to write something for the contest at least a little bit, or I won't enter. However, the prizes must be satisfactory too. I think it's only happened once though when I've been inspired by a contest, but the prizes deterred me.

Oh and personally, I've only entered one competition now. Which clearly, is yours haha. I didn't enter it for the prizes, to be honest I wouldn't mind too much if I didn't receive any prizes at all. But I felt the need to write something and you prompted me to do so. Plus, romances are such a treat to write!
