Being an only child and then having another one come in to the picture is really hard. I was four when my brother was born and I was a really angry child ever since. My mom still talks about how I was almost never happy since then. I'm the oldest of 4 and I've more or less let myself fade into the background. Nobody listens to me much anymore, and I have to cause a scene in order to be noticed. I started cutting when I was 12 also. I had been on a streak of not doing it for 8 months but I broke that streak yesterday.
Life is really hard sometimes, but there's ways you can make it better. Have you tried talking to your parents and telling them how you feel? A lot of times the best solution is to just say what you feel. Parents are humans too and they make mistakes; sometimes the kid needs to speak up and say "hey, I need some fucking help." You might have to keep asking for help, because parents have a lot on their plate too. Sometimes they just... forget. It's hard not to take it personally but again, talking. Talking helps.
