Hmm...for me...I use original fiction as a free write and a vessel to let more of my imagination come out. For Fan Fiction....I feel that there is a certain expectation readers have for it. It feels like I'm limited at times with how I can make my characters because it would be too far fetched for the celebrities to be really. Even though it is Fan FICTION...some readers get huffy if the celebrity is too wacky or unrealistic from how they are in real life.

With Original Fiction...you can make up whatever the hell you want to and not feel so...limited about it. Sometimes too..I just like making up new characters in their entirety. I can dream up this really dark, handsome and mysterious stranger man who is totally sexy and amazing in an Original Fiction instead of always having to describe a celebrity a certain way.

People know what the celebrity looks like already and expect you to describe them as such. For example...M. Shadows has hazel eyes and his arms are adorned with colorful, artsy tattoos. See people expect to hear about that because that is in fact how he looks.

When I'm dreaming up my own characters in Original Fics...it's cool because no one knows how they look in my head since the character isn't a celebrity and been in the lime light. However I will say that it is hard to want to keep updating an Original Fiction if I'm not strictly writing it for my own benefit. If it's a story that I WANT feedback on...then I'll end up dropping the story due to lack of feedback or publicity from users on here. Most people enjoy Fan Fiction more it seems.

It doesn't necessarily mean you are bad at writing Original Fiction...it just means that users are more inept to read Fan Fiction or stories about their favorite celeb crushes instead of made up characters. Sorry for the novel. I talk too much!

I find that original fiction just doesn't get as much love as fanfiction does, same as unpopular fandom fiction. Sometimes you can't win. I am not complaining, but it's a fact that if I write an original story, a harvest moon story and a one direction story, the 1D story it going to get more readers, comments and reccs than the other two combined.

I think I'm okay at both, I'm not sure if I'm better at one vs. the other, but I like fanfiction a lot more! I say write what you enjoy.

I guess I'm the same way because I've been writing fanfiction for so long, so I'm used to it. I like original fiction, I just don't think I'm all that good at writing it.

I do both, but I have a slight preference for fanficition. I just like writing it better. I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

Original fiction can be really difficult to write if you're not really, really into it. It's my favourite thing, though, when it's done well. Weird
