I only just came across this blog and really liked reading it.

I don't watch the the Shay Tards thing you mentioned but I thought what you brought up was good.

It was interesting that you were talking about Green Day being "sell outs" etc. I agree with what you said, just because a band is having success and is able to make a living from being a band does not make them "sell outs".

The other thing you brought up was that Green Day aren't punk. Well every person's definition of a Punk music sound is different anyway. I always thought that Punk was more about your ideals, what you believe in and how you live your life. Really that shows that Green Day still have a Punk way about them.

I'm the exact same way.
I remember 2 years ago, I was in class and the topic of influence from punk rock came up and somebody said something along the lines of "that bassist from the sex-somethings" and I literally went off.
My teacher was actually impressed of how much I knew and just let me rant.
It was quite glorious.
Nobody's questioned since.

So, I totally feel the same way as you for this selling out shit. Like no. They're really not.
Obviously I hate all that hype.
Seriously, tho.
But here's what I have to say about one point you made.
It wasn't just that Sid Vicious commited suicide, it was the fact that he was charged for the murder of his girlfriend, Nancy Spungen. We musn't forget that, as it is the ultimate reason for his death.
