That's so rude My mother's family is indigenous Siberian, so I get called the wrong ethnicity, spoken to in other languages, told to go home, etc. No one knows that indigenous Siberians exist either, even some Russians don't. Working for a Chinese family business doesn't help with that.

I can't believe so many people have never heard of Mongolia. Did Genghis Khan become one of the greatest warriors in history for nothing? Even aside from that, it's a pretty big country.

Ugh I feel ya. My friends assume I speak Chinese because I listen to K-pop. Then I tell them it's Korean and they say "oh, it's the same". It doesn't sound remotely similar, it's different letters and just... No. And yesterday my mom said Onew from SHINee (who is Korean) is "kinda cute for a Chinese guy". my friend is Japanese and when she was here everyone would ask her if she was Chinese or Vietnamese or Filipino, and she would freak out and just rage. I dunno but we have this thing here where it's like taboo to ask an Asian if they're Japanese

Ugh, I feel you. Although, I'm not Portuguese (obviously) but I hate how, since, I come from another country they think I don't speak their language and they say some racist stereotypical things on me.

I'm Portuguese and everyone assumes I'm like Norwegian just because I'm pale and blonde with green eyes. Then I say "I'm from Portugal" so people say HOLA. No, I'm not from Spain, I'm from that other country next to Spain! And no, Portugal is not anywhere near Brazil and yes, some of us are blonde. Sighs.

BUT THERE'S A PART 2.
The kids' mom came with the car keys and she was like:
"Is she trying to talk to you?" (i think she was talking to me and my mom?????????)

And my mom (who's way more bolder than me) COMPLETELY LIED THAT SHE WAS ALL SASSY TO THE KID. She was like:
"Oh yes," *smile and nod* "They said hello and I said hello back."

AND THEN THE MOM WAS ALL WEIRD AND SUCH
"They're learning Chinese at school!"

Like, I'm sorry, I didn't realize that your kids will grow up to be successful people with a lot of money and will travel to China and speak Chinese. And learn the Chinese way and be the next Karate Kid.

I'm Asian too and when people guess what ethnicity I am, they're usually waaaaay off the mark. The misunderstandings usually go to my mother though; she's had Korean and Japanese people talk to her as if she understands the language.
