@Philsbabyhina Me too. 1D does have a few nice songs. I personally like pop and rock and classic rock. Brittney Spears was pretty awesome, I think I have all of her older albums.
@writewithlove The media does talk about them a lot. I like a few Beyonce and Rihanna songs, and a little bit of Taylor. But I don't really care for Austin Mahone and I despise Justin Bieber. I guess I just wish that the media would talk about the artists that released new albums and songs recently. They do for a short time, then someone something stupid and they get the attention...
@midnightsunshine Wow, a whole program? I know there was a program for baby Prince George, but wow. Man, I haven't listened to Nirvana...in almost 2 weeks!!
@jointhemasquerade I didn't think they have been around that long! I know I've listened to them since I was little, but dang!

I personally like bands and artists from the early 2000's and the decades before that. Anything form 2005 and onward (asides Asian Pop/Rock bands) don't really appeal to me. 1D has a few nice songs I like to listen to once in awhile but I'm more of a classic rock fan myself. The only pop I like is Brittney Spears when she first came out. XD

It's mostly the media that talk them up so much so I think it's pretty easy to steer clear. I only know anything about them when I actually want. But really, I feel the same way about a lot of artists like Beyonce, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Austin Mahone, etc. The thing is, just because the media isn't talking about it or the fandom isn't showcased every single day; doesn't mean that it doesn't get the appreciation that it deserves i.e. Kendrick Lamar, Florence + the Machine, Christina Perri, Lana Del Rey, Kelly Rowland, etc. Just wanna ease your mind on all of the propaganda surrounding a lot of celebrities; not just One Direction.

It's the Simon cowell influence. If he wants them big, BAM! Their international superstars. There was a whole programme dedicated to them last night on British TV. Some girl met them 64 times!!! I like 1D, but im not obsessed. They're good but I prefer dance music personally and a bit of older bands. My iPod is full of nirvana, U2, snow patrol and stuff like that!!! And don't even get me started on green day!! :-)

Green Day have been around since the late 80s ;)
