    I'm so sorry hun. My mom wouldn't let me go over to friend's houses either unless their parents were from church and there wasn't any kids my age. I was lonely a lot too and it's spilled over in my adult life. I'm here if you need to tak.

    @ bright lights;
    Yeah, family can suck. I never like the phrase "Blood is thicker than water," because it's not really true in most cases.

    I'm trying not to get too upset about my life right now. But lately I've been too depressed to see beyond my pain and do something about it. I hope one day I can get over my feelings and try to find someone who wants me around as much as I want them. I want to be happy. And I know I'll have to work for it.

    Unfortunately family is a bad example to live by. People constantly say "friends come and go, but family is always there". As much as that is somewhat true, it's really not. In most cases, it can be, but it's not for everyone. Some people's family really hurt them. Family is just a label that is sometimes given to those who don't deserve it.

    You have to think of what you want more and work past your feelings and fears. If you truly want someone in your life that you can call a friend, you're going to have (for lack of better phrasing) get over it. It seems scary, but once you have a friend or someone important in your life, you will be much happier.

    It's okay. I know it wasn't.

    @ bright lights;

    Thanks. You're right, but it's so hard to try to get past my feelings without feeling like I'm going to be rejected or hurt. I've had people in my family use the things I've said to hurt me, so I think if family will do that what will stop others from doing the same if I let them in.

    And sorry I made you feel sad. That wasn't my intention, I swear.

    Reading this made me feel so sad. I understand what it's like to be lonely too. It hurts and feels like no one is there, but the truth this, they will be if you let them. It takes time and moving out of your comfort zone.

    I'm here, if you need someone to talk to. Smile
