Quite the interesting question. Recently, to finish up a chapter and start a one shot, I watched some Bleach yaoi chat room stuff. No clue why, but it worked. I guess it just depends on you.
Some advice, take some time off. Like a month or so. But write little ideas here and there. Maybe that'll help. If not, oh well. I tried :)
Oh my god I'm having such a shitty case of writer's block I just wrote a scene where one of my characters broke the fourth wall and judged my writing hardcore.
@ Fonsi I'm trying to do that with prompts (picture, word, or sentence prompts), but so far nothing I just made a list with music that reminds me of the Joker, to see if perhaps I can start with something I'm more familiarized with. Hopefully this will work.
@ Tholomew Plague and @ SleepingClaytonHina I think the music is what so far has been working anything else I try sucks.
To write, I get myself in the zone, depending on what story im writing, if it's a comedy, i'll watch a comedy movie and listen to upbeat music. If its a horror, i'll watch something scary and chuck on some heavy music. :D oh and I sit in my laziboy to write, it helps O_O
For me what I do is I usually listen to music as you do but I actually have to be feeling a certain way before I even want to start writing, whether it be upset, happy, sad, that will show in the writing. Like my most recent story I posted, I was feeling kinda weird and spacey and that's how that kinda came out, so as long as i'm feeling a certain way my writing will come out that way and basically the way I want it.
My inspiration can literally come from anything. I was just going around the forums and something in confessions made me start writing. Music can inspire me, but also events. I was just looking through pictures and I got my NaNo idea. (Or another one) But there were so many pictures with so much emotion I felt I had to write this story. The pictures were only of people and some scenery and the feeling moved me.
I don't really know how to explain but I kind of look at things and try to start a story about those things, may it be pictures or people or music and if I can put together a one sentence outline of what the story might be about, I go from there and let that be the skeleton. My NaNo sentence was, "They prayed for peace and got a landslide."
This might not help much cause I was kind of rambling but just message meeeee Lee.
