I had no idea. I've never actually completed a Pokemon game, I've only ever been told by friends what happens at the end of a game. I like to complete Pokedex's more than complete the game... But I'm determined to finish Y now.

I think the CHampion being your rival/neighbor has been tossed out the window since the the original red/yellow/blue games. And they focused on giving you two rivals per game (starting from emerald/ruby/sapphire). >_> I say two rivals in the hoenn games because the boy called Wally becomes your main main rival in emerald. But yeah, usually the champion would be anyone that's just wandering around the game's region, tracking down the evil organization in the game you're playing. Ie: Cynthia in the sinnoh region, Steven in the hoenn region, Lance in the JOhto Region, N or Alastor(?) in the Unova games.
