@ Deus Ex Machina I never implied they haven't, much less denied it, thank you. I was simply drawing back to the relevance of the blog you posted a comment on, seeing as the blog has nothing to do with people using religion as an excuse for their prejudice. If you are not going to stay on the topic of the blog and instead bring up other points, then please do not comment anymore. Thank you.

Assuming you're referring to rights in the USA.

I totally agree with this. And, Deus Ex Machina, you are not referring to religion as a whole, you're referring to the Catholic Church. And religion doesn't take minorities' rights away, ignorant people in power take minorities' rights away and use old religious values as an excuse. You're also completely ignoring more progressive denominations. And not all religious people believe in all the values a church instills. Faith exists in many ways, and the excuses ignorant people use come from old values and ways of religion, not faith. They may have originated from faith, but are subject to change as times do. And also to the contrary, most religions involve some lessons that are applicable to liberal and progressive beliefs.

I didn't say anything about insulting them solving those problems. You cannot deny that religion has effectively blocked the rights of many minorities from the Fall of Rome to present day. The only "good" of religion are the charities they've established, but that's honestly marred by the serious pedophilia problem in the Catholic Church that the pope willingly turns a blind eye towards. If they question my beliefs, I will tear theirs to shreds without a moment's hesitation.

I believe there is no god, I put faith in science, and I voice that I think there is no god and that science can explain everything. Yet I grew up christian, so I know some believe there is a god, and that's okay. I could care less what others believe, it's their life after all.

I agree. I don't think it's fair to say that religious people are idiots, ignorant, judgmental, etc. There are radicals in all belief systems in society, whether it be religion, atheism, conservativism, liberalism, and so on. Science on the origins of humanity are all theory - as no one alive now was there when human life began -, so I don't believe it's really accurate to say religion is ignorance when the origins of humanity based on science can't really be proven either.

I've found that many of the people I've met who shame others for judging are more judgmental than those they're shaming for it.

As far as science goes, I believe God created all aspects of our world and in doing so, created science.

Here, here. I can't stand that either. My best friend is like this and I am continuously fighting with him to lay off the religious people we know. I tell him we honestly don't know what is/isn't and he starts going on with the "yeah, but science has more proof" shit, and I'm just...no. Just stop. We can go on forever and ever about what is and what isn't and by the end neither of us will be right or wrong.

I agree with this. I also can't stand some religious people. Ok, so I love my aunt, but ever since she became a so called christian, she became a hypacritical, homophobic, transphobic little shit.
When my mom found out some of the things I like, my mom told her. And my aunt came up to me and said “If you weren't going to hell for being a disgusting person, you're defenitly going now for your nasty gay stories"
Before she became a so called christian, she would never of said that to me.
oh and the religious people who try to push their faith on you. That's not only annoying, but it can also be looked at as rude

@ Deus Ex Machina While I do not agree with anyone's rights being taken away, insulting all people who have faith for what they believe is still wrong and solves none of the problems you listed because insulting someone for choosing to believe in something you don't is immature and also doesn't hit at the rights of anyone.

Fanatical religious people piss me off much more because their faith is taking the rights from women, homosexuals, and other parties.

I have a friend who is like that. He says he doesn't care what people believe in, then posts on facebook all day about how stupid you are if you believe in God. It drives me nuts, but he is the closest thing to an older brother that I have and I love him so.. I just let it in one ear and out the other. Which is hard, because while I'm not a religious person, I respect what other people believe and don't put them down because they pit their faith in something they can't see.

I believe science and the "God" go hand in hand, bit that's me.

My friend is bitter though, because his son died when he was six months old from SIDS... he wasn't such a horrible dude, but that happened and now its like he blames everything on how there's a lack of A God.. Its no excuse for how he acts, but I can understand why he's hostile about it.. he is allowed to be mad, but damn he shouldn't try to ruin it for others.

Sorry I went on a rant here... I totally agree with you. People should just let people believe in what ever they need to, to get through the day.

It would make me very happy if people could let others believe in whatever they believe in without trying to change them. Some people need to have faith and that faith is what gets them through their struggles, while some other people don't need it at all.
I wish more people realized this and let it be rather than continuously trying shove their beliefs onto others. But yeah, I agree with this and your layout is really pretty. Shifty

@ B O N E S Exactly. I've always said that if you have to resort to belittling people to defend your cause or belief, then you must not be very good at arguing it in the first place. And thank you. =3

First..... I LOVE your blog layout. It's Olilicious lol. I agree though. I don't like egotistical people period, religious or not. I think if anyone resorts to insulting or belittling other people in the nane of their "cause" it's still pretty sad.
