    PoeticMess.:
I'm with you 100%. I can't read something that wide. I think that's what bothers me the most..
    Airi.:
Honestly, I don't mind if a story has a layout or not. I rarely read on the web version of Mibba anymore. Whenever I read a story on Mibba, I'm usually reading something while I'm on my phone and the mobile version doesn't utilize the layouts. So I've gotten used to reading something with a default layout since I'm always reading on my phone. It seems like it's just one of those things you just need to get used to doing. c:

I agree with these parts. Cute That's what I would have said as well.

    @ Airi.
I don't mind reading it on the mobile site at all. Honestly, I think it's how wide it is with the default layout that throws me off. & yeah, I feel you. It's sad that we're so ingrained like that, and I know it's wrong to judge a book by the color (story by the layout) but I'm really picky and it's hard for me to focus on anything but the layout unless the story is really amazing and draws me in.

Even with my own stories, I can't deal with the white layout. I have to create layouts that suit me and my stories. It's sort of a personality trait, I guess.

But even before the mobile site, I didn't mind reading stories with default layouts. In fact, most of the stories I would switch to the default layout. I read a lot of horror and for some reason, many horror writers on here seem to have a habit of making a dark text on dark background layout. >.< So I just got into the habit of clicking the default button.

I don't know, I guess I've never really put too much weight onto layouts. I've always tried to look at the quality of the story over the quality of the layout. Honestly, one of the things I dislike about Mibba is how much weight we put onto the layouts. It makes me kind of disappointed to think of how many good stories people might be missing because they didn't like the layout, you know?

I honestly can't read a story without a layout unless it's super amazing. The white is too distracting and I can't do really wide boxes... Idk. I'm just super picky and I know it's wrong but I just can't help it.

I agree a lot with what you're saying. I'll read it too if the story is really good, but if I'm just lazily browsing through I'll move onto something else.

I like the fact that we can make layouts for our stories. To me, it's what makes this site better than some others in some ways. A nice layout is convinient, but if the story is really good while the layout isn't, I can still read it. I think it is pretty rude to complain about it, so as long as the story is good, I'll read it.

That could be it. I still think they would realize that it's impossible to read.

I am not sure, I think people are so wrapped up in making it pretty that they overthink it and make it way to elaborate.

YES. I don't understand how those authors don't realize that their stories are impossible to read like that. I'm always looking at my layouts so I would know if something was wrong. How could they believe that people will read that?

I hate mibba defaults, they really hurt my eyes after a few minutes. But then again, some layouts people come up with hurt my eyes. Like pictures behind the text, fuck I hate that. It makes me squint and strain.

Okay, that's true. When people have really obnoxious layouts, that bothers me too and I would switch to the default one. That's a really good point. Although, I've definitely been seeing more default layouts recently rather than obnoxious/distracting custom ones.

It has to be really interesting for me to start reading. Or I'll go read it on my iPod instead (wow, that sounds bad :P)
& no, it's definitely not. I usually just go find something else unless I HAVE to read that one. It's not fair for the author to be judged on their layout, but I can't help it! I need pretty things while I read.

& aw thanks. They're not that great. :P They're usually really simple. :P

I don't mind the default layout because if a custom layout bothers me, then I switch to the default layout and continue reading the story. I will agree that the default layout is a little bland, but I'd rather read a story with it than a story that ends up distracting me from the actual story.

C: Now if it's not like I'll turn away from the story especially if its good but it does take so much longer to get through only because my brain is screaming at me "STAY MOTIVATED!" lol and I don't think it's polite to comment and be like 'UMM THE STORIES GREAT! CAN YOU MAYBE ADD A MORE ATTRACTIVE LAYOUT? o.o'

Glad to know I'm not alone! c:
    Sorry for double posting -.-
I have to admit I'm rather envious of your layout making skills! they're all so pretty…

    Layout! I agree 100% C:

Personally, I've found it so much more difficult to pay attention to what I'm reading if it lacks layout only because my mind is going "URGH WHY DOESNT THIS HAVE A LAYUOT?!" It just makes the story more captivating and much more ascetically pleasing in my opinion

Don't feel odd, I often feel the same!
