I am a smoker, and I thought it'd be fun to answer the issues you have raised here.

    1. I only smoke because I have the spare cash left over for it, if I cant afford it that week, I dont smoke that week, simple. I always make sure my daughters stuff come's first, so it's not selfish of me to do that, if I have the spare cash that week.

    2. Smoking is not fun, I don't knwo who ever said that, because it's not. It's a coping mechanism for most people. For me; it's fufilling a desire to always be doing something with my hands, and also gives me the illusion that I am relaxing. So far as I can tell, I'm going to die anyway, and cancer does not usually strike fast. I havent been smoking long enough to gain any real health issues, and I don't know if I am going to stop or not, but considering I have gone cold turkey before - I see no reason to panic over these issues.

    3. Any smoker who smells of smoke, obviously doesnt shower often enough. I shower, wash my clothes everyday and make sure my house does not smell of smoke. At bus stops and public places, I stand away from others and away from the wind, so my smoke doesnt blow towards them or near them. I am quite considerate. Nobody call tell I'm a smoker until they see me actually smoking. My own mother didnt realise I smoked for a whole year after I had started because I took so much care with my clothes and hygenie. If you put the extra mile in - it's not so difficult. You can also buy really good fabric cleaners to get rid of the smell, as well as speciality shampoo.

    4. Untrue. I have gone cold turkey myself, for over a year. I was addicted, and then I found out I was pregnant and stopped straight away, no cravings, no nothing. A few of my friends have done the same thing. The only reason I started smoking again was because I was going thru a rough time. My best friend quit smoking one afternoon four years ago, cold turkey and has never looked back. Some people can kick it, the key is actually wanting to, or having a goal too. It's not as addicting as some people say it is, the majority of the time it's the action you are addicted too (although the substance is highly addictive in large amounts). I myself am addcited to the movement from my fingers to my mouth, yet if I do them same with a cigarette - I feel the same rush I would get if I didnt have one. It's strange. My doctor just says it's a phycological urge I have.

    5. Of course I know what I am smoking, I read the label the first time. Do you know what you eat in your food? People know, but they still eat it. Do people know what they rub on their skin when they are using some make up? Yes, but they still do it.

I do agree with this blog, but for me and the smokers I know, it's different.

But you are right, if you ever start smoking people, try to quit as soon as possible. It's not worth it in the long run, but if you do start - at least stop after a few years, so there are no long term health affects.

As much as I agree, I also can't say that I want to quit. I started smoking because it was a distraction from cutting. I feel like if I'm gonna die anyway, I should be able to die doing what I love. Though I don't think that's a great mindset to have aha

I'm saying that it's probably not going to sway anyone. I would think most people already know this. Or I would hope they would, it's all been discussed for a long time now.

All the points you made have already been made before,
    It's nothing new.

There are so many good points to NOT smoke. I'm kind of a jerk when it comes to this subject though... I smoke at work (high stress job, wish I didn't but without it I'm a raging bitch) but never smoke anywhere else. A pack lasts me about, if not more than a week. I've had family die from smoking-related diseases. I should stop, hell, I should have never jumped onto that bandwagon. If I could find something just as effective to make me not want to kill people with my bare hands... I'd probably quit completely.

I started smoking after my miscarriage and now I use water vapor vaps (e-ciggerates) They have nothing in it except oil and water and flavoring. YEah, its disgusting but I am slowly getting myself off of it. Cigarettes disgust me now, I hate them but ya know its true. Once you start, its hard to quit.
