That's pretty sucky man, I'm sorry but I do understand where she's coming from with the group thing. If you are easily influenced then it's an incredibly bad idea to put you within a bunch of other people who have all sorts of different problems. It's hard enough to deal with your own problems so adding other peoples will make everything a ton worse.

Is there not another therapist you can try? Just jump around a few times until you find another that can do as good a job as her?

I really am sorry though man, I wish I could help.
If you ever really need to talk, my inbox is open, I get online at least every other day so I will do my absolute best even if you just need to rant that someone bought you the wrong colour socks or something, I dunno but if I can help, I will.

I hope it all gets sorted soon love :)

I'll have to talk about it further with my therapist next week and ask if there's any other options. I just think, with it being through the NHS, there are certain rules/regulations the doctors have to follow etc. If I'm referred again, or if my therapist decides to put me into a group, it'll take at least 6 months before anything happens.

Hug First, I'm terribly sorry that you have to go through that.

Second, you might be able to request a referral from your therapist to see someone else that your current therapist trusts. Normally, therapists should offer referral forms when they are leaving/changing clinics/or whatever other reason, because that offers their clients a second option.

Group therapies are very structured and allows to explore very little of each of the person's concerns; it focuses more on teaching you self-growth and techniques that you can implement on your own, so it provides some independence. There are clients who already know what the problem is and that means that time spent on you will be less than time spent on another client who cannot figure out the problem.

I hope that the therapist can offer an alternative.

Oh my gosh, that sucks. You should be able to do group therapy, I'm sure that would help...If you're into groups...or whatever.

Anyway, I agree with ladyschrei, maybe you could find a way for you two to communicate? If she doesn't mind not being paid for it. Or maybe there could be some kind of payment if necessary.

Is there any way maybe she could set up a separate email and you guys could email back and forth if you feel you're getting really bad and need to talk?
