My Encounters with Salon's Are Never Good (opinions, please!). - Comments

  • You're welcome. I don't mind helping out. If you have any other questions about it, don't be afraid to send me a message or a comment. I love helping others out.

    I've done that before and ended up not getting exactly what I wanted, but hey, you live and you learn, right?

  • @ Theo Rossi;
    Thanks for the tips! I really appreciate them. Mr. Green

    I guess I should have done some research about getting an ombre hairstyle instead of trusting the hair stylist.

  • Maybe it's just the hairstylist who doesn't know what she is doing. I know how to do an ombre. Now, I'm not perfect with it yet because I'm still new, but I'm learning. If you want to do it again. I would just suggest wait a little while and trim your hair every two months (just a half-inch) until the damaged part is gone and go somewhere else with the picture. I would also suggest using a deep conditioner every other week just to keep the damage down to a minimum.

    Yeah, you're hair is dark. I imagine it's really pretty color, but since it's dark it won't take colors like blue, purple, and green unless it's bleached just because your hair is darker than the colors you're trying to go. It may give a tint to your hair, but not enough without some bleach to make it really pop. Which she should have done in the first place.

    The second time I went in I had a picture and she still didn't do it right.

    My hair is a dark chestnut brown. :)

  • I don't know if this will help or not, but every time you go it have a picture of what you want with you. Maybe then they will try to get it right. Certain colors don't take well on dark hair, that's always something to keep in mind. By the way, how dark is your hair though?

    Thank you all for offering advice! :3 I just now got home, after being at the salon for an entire three hours.

    I ended up paying twenty bucks. She bleached the ends of my hair because she thought one of the reasons the dye didn't stick was because my hair is so dark. But it still isn't how I explained. There's a lot more purple in it this time, but it's nothing at all like the picture reference I showed her at the beginning of this appointment.

    And she basically ripped my hair out! My scalp is literally throbbing right now because she was pulling so hard on tangles.

    I'm never going back to that place and am just going to leave my hair as is for now. I'm too frustrated to put up with anything else.

  • No, you absolutely should not pay. Last time I died my hair (to cover chlorine damage) they had to apply a second darker dye just to get it all in.

    Anyways, you shouldn't pay. Just clarify at the beginning of the appointment that if you're required to pay more then you'd kindly like your refund. Say something like, "Just wondering, but does the 56$ I already paid cover this?" If she says no then you can just explain that it's her fault and you should not have to pay again. And then just tell her you want your refund. She'll definitely cave, but it's probably covered.

    Can I see your hair? :)

  • I went to cosmetology, and I have my license. The way you described it is she probably didn't know what she was doing or she didn't really understand what you were saying. And honestly if it wasn't the way you wanted it before you walked out the salon, you shouldn't have paid in the first place. One of my friends had really long hair and was going in to get an inch cut off, but the stylist left only an inch of hair on her head, and she didn't pay for it. The stylist should have made sure how far up you wanted it, and how dark you wanted it.

  • Um no. My sister in law is a stylist and she does a darn good job...I wouldn't pay if I were you. You asked her to do something and if she thought you might not like it SHE should have said something so you could work something out if she had suggestions....
