This is perfect! I'm going to see Arctic Monkeys in June (fingers crossed hehe) and I've never been to a concert so this is pretty much exactly what I needed. Thanks a billion!

I always have my hair down at concerts and one I went to in November I was at the barrier and some girl started plaiting my hair and brushing through it with her fingers. I didn't even know her and she said "You have really gorgeous hair, can I have it?" and it freaked me out haha. I don't tip because I don't buy merch, however if I'm seeing the bands I'm friends with I buy them a drink.

That's so weird, because to every concert I've been to, everyone has complained if you don't put your hair up. Maybe it's an area thing? I live in an area full of a**holes, so it's possible we just hate everything lol! But thanks sweetie :)

I get what you said about tipping too. I'm a student, as well as a part time waitress, so i have to be very careful with how I spend my money. Idk how it is with the English resenting tipping, but i always make sure to keep a few singles tucked away, or at least a few quarters because i know how hard it can be.
but I love watching the opening acts! It's a good chance for me to get to know some new bands or music. Plus it's a rev-up for when the headliners come on. But I have skipped openers that I really don't enjoy so I don't spend time standing on my feet.

Hmm... honestly, I've been to a few concerts and I don't remember seeing many people with their hair tied up. Shifty I used to have hair down to the middle of my back and no one ever said anything to me. I thought some of these were pretty good tips, regardless. Lol

I can't really remember seeing anyone with their hair tied up at concerts.
And I don't watch support acts, so I'm always late to concerts.
I also don't tip, but that's because the English do resent tipping. And I'm a student.

But I definitely agree you should make friends with random strangers at concerts. I've met some awesome people that way.

I guess so! People wear high heels, but they always complain and they get damaged and stuff. You can wear them, I have no complaints, until they start complaining and I ask why they wore them in the first place then.

Maybe Americans are just better about being assholes about stuff.

Same thing with alcohol about the cigs. People buy it before, bring it into the pit and then spill it over everyone. can't tell you how many times I come home from a concert smelling like a brewery. Plus, people don't like leaving because they say they on't want to loose their spots/get separated from their friends. I'm fine with leaving to smoke outside and such, but in some venues, if you leave for any reason, they won't let you back in.

I've always been at the front, right near the stage whenever I've gone to a concert. The majority of people have their hair down and not once has any irritated me nor mine them. It's an odd notion to have people complain about hair at a concert considering most people over here (from what I've seen) keep their hair down.

We're allowed to bring cigarettes in but we have to leave to smoke them. People leave to buy alcoholic drinks that are provided so I don't see why people wouldn't leave to smoke? It happened in the concerts I went to, although two of them had the bar in the same room as the stage so it wasn't so much as leaving as stepping away from the crowd.

I guess it must be a different experience here than in America/elsewhere. Loads of people I see at concerts wear high heels as well, so I assume that's another difference?

At a beyonce concert? Wow dude. That's hilarious. but yeah, i suppose different places and venues have different rules. I would just check the website before you go so you can be prepared.

A thing I would like to add with my experience at a concert. High possibility of weed smokers. The venue I went to did not allow smoking, but 10 minutes into the actual concert was on the the main things I smelt. (This was a Beyoncé concert)

Might depend on the person and venue. But yeah. Be ready.

Idk man, it always seems to be a problem for me. I have shorter hair (about half way down my neck) and one time I didn't put it up and people kept asking me to. I eventually did so they would all shut up (and because they kept shoving hairties in my face lol). We were more towards the front so everyone's face was like shoved into my neck. Maybe they farther back you are it's not so much of a problem? Or maybe in Great Britian people are just nicer and don't really care?

About the cigarettes, yeah you technically aren't allowed to smoke in the venue. You get in big trouble if they catch you. When the search your bangs before you go in, they will confiscate your cigs because you can't even bring them in. but people are clever and hide them in their bras and such to get them past. I'm saying that what's the point of bringing them in, because if your are caught (which you most likely will be because people aren't dumb and can smell smoke) you get them taken away. Also, if you manage to get them in, people won't leave in the middle of the show to go outside in smoke. They'll stay in and risk damage and confiscation.

I always have my hair down at concerts and so do most people I see at concerts and it's never been a problem.

You're not even allowed to smoke in venues (as far as I'm aware) so telling people not to take their cigarettes is rather useless because they'd go outside to do it and that's fine.
