@ Damsel Of Darkness I am, thanks! Haven't had one of those in a long while. Umm you could always send it in a message on here, or if it's too long, email? I don't mind.
Haha, yeah, I know what you mean. After about the tenth first date it's like, yeah, this is boring, move on please! XD
@ rachthebat. That's fine, hope you're feeling better! How should I send it? What's easiest for you?
Yeah, that would be really confusing. And repetitive. I've never liked the idea of rehashing "scenes" with different points of view for that reason. It always makes me think of that movie, 50 first dates, which I don't mind, but I get bored with it because it feels so repetitive. Weird comparison, but it's what always comes to my mind. Haha.
@ Damsel Of Darkness Yeah, course I can :) Sorry I didn't reply sooner, had a killer migraine last night. Yeah, I'll read them both and let you know!
I don't mind it when the chapters are longer, and there's a page break in between. But that story I read, there was like a paragraph in one POV, then the same paragraph in someone else's POV, then again, the same paragraph and a different character's POV. I got so lost! Haha
@ rachthebat. Good advice. Hey, do you think if I re-write the first chapter in third, you could take a look at both versions and tell me which you think is better? It's short, about two pages or so, as it's supposed to be a prolepsis (or flash forward, if you will). I'll also show you the plot summary I've written for when it's posted too, so you have a little bit more of an idea of what it's about.
I'll be honest, I do that with my story, Love versus Lust. It's not every chapter, but a good portion of them I do switch pov's within the same chapter. I make it clear, with a page break and headline stating who's point of view it is, plus they're longer chapters, so it kind of helps break it up and keep it from getting boring. At least, that's what I figured when I started doing it. Haha. Since it was a story about a love triangle, it just seem to fit to use two points of view.
@ Damsel Of Darkness Yeah, just see how you go with it, if you don't feel comfortable then switch back to first. It's your story at the end of the day, so you should write it how you feel comfortable :) I'll read it either way!
I read a story a while ago, that had one half of the chapter in one character's POV and the second half in another. That's how it was for every chapter that I read. I think I got about three chapters in and gave up, haha.
@ rachthebat. Yeah, I like the idea of me telling it as the narrator, rather than as the characters themselves. I think I might write out at least the first chapter in 3rd and see how it goes. If it stinks and I really just can't get the flow for third, then I'll just have to stick with first.
Argh, yeah, I hate when people redo chapters in different points of view, too. I never do that, if I switch p.o.v, it's a completely scene or at the very least, the character might just internally express how they felt about what just occurred. But I won't go beyond that.
I'm the opposite, haha, I just can't seem to write in first person, at all. I do for one or two co-writes, and it always feels weird to me XD I prefer third person because I think you can get across multiple POV's, not just one, and yeah, keep some things back. But it's up to you, really, whatever you feel most comfortable writing in. I'll read stories in either POV, as long as the plot interests me, I don't really mind which POV it's written in. But I hate it when a chapter is done in one person's POV and the next chapter is the same chapter but in some one else's POV, that gets boring.
I'm rambling, haha. I guess I like to write as the narrator, telling the story of my characters. If you think of it that way, it might be a little easier? But it's up to you, that's just my two pennies worth, haha.
It's okay, I do that a lot! Haha
